To Be or Not to Be.....

....that is the question.  Just when I thought binding the Wee Folk rug was well thought out and on it's way am now have doubts on whether to continue with the wool yarn or not.  The picture below is with a flash.
This next picture is without a flash and in my normal house setting.
As you can see from the top picture, there is a brightness and sheen to the wool yarn.  The second picture the sheen and brightness doesn't show up as much but it is obvious that it is a more intense color.

Perhaps with it being on the floor that difference would be insignificant but expect it would bother me every day looking at it wondering why I didn't do it right.  Were it not for having the blue hooked texture right next to it the wool yarn may have worked.  But the fact remains the blue hooked wool IS right next to it around the entire rug.

SO, my plans are to not bind with the yarn tonight as I'd planned but wait overnight and see what I think in the morning.

OH, the corner is turned under so there really is an edge there which is whipped with thread, I just didn't refresh the corner so it was obvious.

To be continued......

  1. If its wool yarn can you overdye it with black to take the brightness out? As long as its not acrylic, and you dont intend on using the yarn, it may be worth the try.

  2. Hi Saundra,Give it a day to think about it.I always wonder aren't rugs suppose to age and the colors fade as time goes by. Maybe then it will be more like what you want.Cheri

  3. Hi, Saundra,
I think you have put too much time and effort into this rug (and expense) to not have it finished exactly the way you want. That is based on you intending to keep the rug in your home. If you are planning to sell it, I doubt it most people would even notice. I have spritzed parts of rugs with homemade walnut dye to tone it down, since you don't wash rugs I don't see the harm in it,

  4. Saundra ~
Somehow I bet you are going to plan B which is probably good since you will always regret plan A.
    Hugs :)

  5. Not that you asked, but I'd do it in a dark binding for sure ~ whatever that material choice is!!!

  6. Funny when you showed the picture in the other post the yarn looked like a perfect match but now actually seeing it started a bit it is a difference. you're like me, it would bug me to death if I used it. You have to be happy with what you use or it won't be a fun rug. Have fun!

  7. change it
it will bother you, and ruin how you feel about it, my little bitty little tiny 2 cents, because I have been reading your blog for awhile.

Thanks for taking the time to visit and I always welcome comments.
