Am still hooking on the farm menagerie rug awaiting the start date of the hook along. If I didn't have this to work on I'd probably start Hearts and Squares early.
Some of the critters (chicks and rabbits) are so small it is hard to get a good shape hooking them. For those I'm cutting #8.5 strips in half. Can see I've lost the shape of the horse's face, which is hooked in a wider cut. Will try to fix that. And what to do with the house color? I don't want white. Maybe a pale yellow but wanted yellow for the star. And don't really want white for the star either. Maybe I'll try a log cabin for the house.
Below is the original rug and at first I didn't know what the ladder or blocks were on the left and right side of the rug. Then decided it must be a fence.
Nothing monumental in the post, just me working my thought process through you on this format. Hope everyone has a pleasant day....and happy hooking.

You are making progress...more than I can say about my hooking...sigh.
ReplyDeleteKeep it up ;-) Lookin' good.
I find choosing colors daunting….for anything.Clothes, wall paint and definitely crafting projects if they don’t come with a color key. Gee, I kinda like the little white house as it is in the original
ReplyDeleteLooking good M.D. I'm kinda surprised you didn't replicate the color palette of the original in this one. Waiting patiently for you to hook the horse heads and the kitty...they're my favorites. ;-) )
ReplyDeleteLooking good Saundra !
ReplyDeleteLooks good but am wondering now what color you are going to make that cow (bull) that is in red by the horse since you reversed the colors of the barn. Yes decisions, decisions, decisions. Janice
ReplyDeleteIt is looking good such a fun pattern.

I love that rug so much. Its so nice to see how you hook each rug that you do.
ReplyDeleteThat’s an exciting one. Plenty going on. Intriguing using the different cuts of wool. Betting that’s going to look great.
ReplyDeleteHope you’ve been well 😊

For those reading messages, I mix cuts in most every rug I've ever hooked.
