Michelle sent me a photo of her heart in hand she created for the Hearts Hook along. And see she's started the outlines, so it's coming together.
I'm presently stymied on what colors to hook for the house and dog. I could hook the house in log cabin colors, but there's already plenty of brown in the rug. Or could use a wool which gives the appearance of a chipped paint house. But it is so close to the sheep would the house get lost in the background just as the sheep?
And the dog...brown, black? Again there's plenty of dark and brown in the rug. So while I ponder the issue I've drawn an adaptation of the following antique from 1920 and will begin work on it. Hoping again to use up more wool worms.
Yesterday I took 2 boxes to the thrift shop and among the items were these two small mats below. The pixie was a challenge on a hooking site maybe 2 decades ago. Thought if I designed a small 'jack in the box' style mat it would sell for a child's room at one of the shows I attended. Had the same idea with the abc, 123 mat but neither sold and don't ever expect them to.
I've too many rugs and plan to find homes for some of them. A few listed for sale on my FB site have sold but more haven't. Perhaps I'll reduce the price on some to see if they go then.
Feels like January instead of November, and wind howling like crazy making the actual temperature even colder.

Love how your rug is coming along . I like your idea of a chippy white house .
ReplyDeleteHappy Veterans Day to the Veterans in our lives and those that scarified for our Democracy .
How do I find your Facebook site?

DeleteOoooo....loving your "next." Love the rich colors and can't wait to see what you do with it. I'm no help with the color choices...I'd probably opt for the "chippy white" house...and a black dog. Awww...so sad that those two little mats were donated. They are so very sweet! You should add a page to your blog and list the rugs that you have listed on FB there. I don't do FB anymore and I think there are many others who have given up too but who might be interested in what you list. And, yes, God bless our veterans.
ReplyDeleteAnother rug almost done. You are hooker extraordinaire! I’m sure whatever wools you choose will be just perfect.
ReplyDeleteWowza on your next rug!
I agree with Robin. Add a few rugs to sell on your blog every now and then. Better to get a little something than nothing!
God bless all who have served 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I'd go with another red house, maybe a different red than what's already hooked.
ReplyDeleteAs to selling your rugs - not everyone has FB. I can only scroll down a few rugs and then blocked from seeing any more. I agree with adding a "for sale" tab here on the blog.
Went back and looked at the original of your rug. I liked the white house in it so I agree with others a chippy white house might be good. On the dog...not sure. Give it an Airdale or Jack Russell look? He's pretty small tho so that might be not so easy. Not much help...sorry LOL
ReplyDeleteMy vote for house color would be a different shade of blue. For the dog, white...but of course the choice is yours to make. Janice
