Just stuff to write about ... Remember my new but useless range I purchased? I've had several visits by technicians hired by Lowes and 3 items replaced so far. Next week the technician I trust most is coming to replace the electrical system. He said that since nothing else has worked this must be the problem. So he ordered the factory part and was delivered here. Yeah, we'll see if this is the answer, and I hope so. If still not working I'll ask him to request a new range.
In the next couple weeks a tree service will be here to remove a gum tree and do other work. Presently he is doing work for the areas nearby who were devastated with a tornado and/or straight-line high winds. His company was here in 2022 and the work scheduled cost over $2,000 but he did much more than I'd even requested. So know he will do a good job this time. Haven't received my estimate yet but I'm anticipating around $4-$5,000 with all I need done. I do live in the woods ya know, lol. Seemed like such a great idea 28 years ago.
The gum tree is just outside my front window and it is a pain to walk to fill the birdbath and tears up the yard when cutting grass the the gum balls catch everything. While I don't have nice grass or even great green weeds to cut, at least the moss is green until it is ripped up. Here is just a small section of gum balls.

In anticipation of the removal of this tree, I've plucked up the brick trimming, many of which were sunken into the earth after several years and will move them before the tree folks come.

Oh I never thought about the gum trees. We have oak which sounds lovely until: in the spring all the little acorns fall and in the winter all the big acorns fall. Right up there with gum evidently 🥴
ReplyDeleteLet’s add black walnuts to the tree list. The squirrels and the deer seem to like them though and they were here first. Your salad looks delicious and so far we have done okay with iceberg. That bag of electronics made me think of a tangle of cross stitch floss! My fingers are crossed that this will be the final fix for you
ReplyDeleteUGH on the tree removal. Yes gum trees can be a pain in the neck. I use them in displays. Picked them up from a friend who has a tree. Black walnuts always pop up around here thanks to the squirrels and are swiftly removed. Janice
ReplyDeleteWe were lucky enough to have the Amish interested in our black walnut trees. Our trees are at least 50+ years old and straight. Also an old 40 foot cherry tree.
ReplyDeleteYikes on the range. It could almost sound like you are having a touch of crow luck in that regard. Sure hope your favorite tech can work some technical magic. No wonder things cost so much these days...they have to account for all the service and repairs required to get things to actually work. ;-) I love gum trees - and black walnut trees - but in other people's yards. My Mia would have a ball picking up the gum balls. She is definitely a "gatherer" and she has her own little lidded gathering basket here. It still hurts to lose a tree though - especially in my book. (And the cost as well...but it still would be worth living in the woods.) I'm really beginning to worry about you MD...and I'm not talking about the lettuce (which has been overhyped I think....) Blogging only when you feel like it and now not have a rug waiting hot and ready in the wings? You ok???

DeleteAs I always say, the joys of home ownership. A block down there is a sweet gum tree. SO HAPPY it is NOT in my yard.

Yikes on still working on the stove. I can not do the salads. I am headed to a local farm stand for things today. It can take up to 2 weeks to come down with it. I am much to busy for that lol.
