Thought it about time to show an update on the Ox Farm pattern. So far I'm pleased with the primitive depiction ~ besides it isn't as if I'm entering this in a contest. This is a pleasure primitive wide hooking event for ME.
I see some stripes I'd like to change between the legs of the front ox and the second; rather than it looking like stripes would like it a solid color of the dark. So will change that when tossing it on my frame again.
Meanwhile I've pulled a few loops on the duck in the Magdalena rug but not enough for a showing yet.
In other news, the Cape May rug camp is getting close and have started pulling wool for my pattern. Yes Lauren, already I've started that. I'm like a kid waiting for Santa and just want to be sure to get a head start on wool colors. But know that I'll buy more wool at camp.
Hope you enjoyed the article in the ATHA magazine as I did; I've looked at all the photos several times since receiving it. Thanks to all who participated.
Happy hooking.
Saundra
I really like your play with warm and cool colours in this piece. It works well- you seem to be a master at this. I know what you mean with the excitement of rug camp!!!! And the added bittersweet of it being such a long time since friends have seen each other. Yay!!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a good judge of primitive rugs butI think, of all the primitive rugs you have hooked, this is my favorite. I love the colors and the balance of the whole design. Just my humble opinion.

you are doing a wonderful job with that rug! So fun to look at that article in ATHA and see all the fun and talent that was in that challenge.

Ox Farm is looking great. I am a last minute kind of girl. Pulling wool now would be entirely foreign to me. And then I would be in a whirlwind at the last minute. Haven’t received my ATHA newsletter yet, but after your previous post, am looking forward to it.
ReplyDeleteLove this rug and your colors ! Going to Rug Camp will be the best event to boost to your soul ....being with other hookers & enjoying all the fun will be Wonderful !!! I need to get a copy of ATHA !!!
ReplyDeleteI do love Ox Farm!
ReplyDeleteWhat a hoot. My rug is shown in your article and then I have 3 rugs in the primitive florals article.
You are too funny. In my book, Cape May is not at all close...lol!
Oooh I am drooling over this rug! Love it!!! did I say I was drooling??? Janice
ReplyDeleteI've said it before, and I'm saying it again (and see from the comments, others agree), this is one of your very finest. Love everything about it. Yes, I'd likely change out the "stripes" between the forward most ox's legs, but like the light blip under the second's.... You are so close to being done...can't believe you are putting it down now! When, exactly, is Cape May?? Is GT going there as well??? I'd be a day-before kind of wool puller...if that. I used to attempt to pack for trips a bit before but it did not work well...I'd just end up pulling what I had packed and packing different...so went back to my old ways. ~Robin~
ReplyDeleteI think its a beautiful rug. I love it so much and what a wonderful treasure it is. I hope you have a wonderful day.
