SOME OLD RUGS

With Thanksgiving this week it is befitting this Thankful rug to be shown first.  Said to be hooked late 19th century with dimensions of 33.5 x 50.
Below is a winter scene hooked by the late Georges-Edouard Tremblay who was also an artist.
Eight point stars with a hit and miss background, no date but measures 34 x 68.
A horse named TOBE given a date between early 19th to early 20th century.
A "Welcome" rug and wonder if the person who hooked it has a dog and cat or if she is suggesting that all creatures great and small are welcome? 😏
A ginormous wool stitched bed rug Joseph and Olive Abbott Mar 22, 1775 which measures 83 x 88.  That had to keep the young lady busy for many months me thinks.
Below is a close up of the true colors and stitching.  She even stitched the background, those aren't flowers and stems stitched only.
An oval in rectangle hooked early 20th century on burlap.  I wondered if the corner was missing or turned over and the photographer didn't fix it.
A rooster on fence, 20 x 34 hooked 19th century.

Wishing all of you a warm and happy Thanksgiving.

  1. Oh.....My....that bed rug stole my heart at first glance. And WOW!! I can only think that whoever stitched it worked on it from the time she learned to stitch, looking forward to her betrothal. Happy Thanksgiving Sweet Mummy D. ~Robin~

  8. The bed rug is stunning, but I like that cabin. Those trees are really detailed and technical if you zoom in a little. Great show!
