Not sure why progress on this rug is taking so long. Could be Christmas shopping, maybe family business appointments taking me away from home. Oh, the leaves... let us not forget those which have used up hours of my time. And soon coming up are my annual physical appointments so surely want this rug done soon!
The pattern I'm working on is called "A Day in the Country" and designed by Tonya Robey. Here is what it looks like now. When the kit was purchased I requested not have the wool cut in strips. At that time I was hooking #8 strips. Now, as my hooking of the dark background continued wasn't sure there would be enough dyed black for the sky left since my strips were now #8.5 and uses a tad more wool.
My first thought is that I'd have to write Tonya and order a bit more black wool. BUT.... decided to pull out my container of primitive black and dang if I didn't find some wool I'd over dyed eons ago which matched perfectly. I didn't tag it but am sure it was a black dye over tan wool. And since I wanted a mottled look chose to not stir the pot much.
I love the red scallop border and how it frames the piece.
Have a great evening everyone and so sorry I've been an absent blog poster.

I'm lovin' this one Saundra - lucky that you had just the right wool to supplement what you got in the kit!
ReplyDeleteLife does have a way of getting in the way sometimes. Your rug is looking great.
ReplyDeleteI love how it is coming out and nice to mix up your blacks together for the background, gives it a lot more movement and with the red edge, beautiful.

You hook so fast and so much I can understand that Christmas shopping is getting in your way.

You are coming along great on your rug!! This time of year, it is hard to always find time to hook, but when you do get a chance to sit and pull a few loops, ENJOY!!
