...vs. the devil I don't know; that's what I'm working on. You guessed it, instead of drawing out yet another pattern which may or may not make the grade, I've decided to work on the Mary Comstock rug. All the wool is gathered, most of the irritating hurdles (re-drawing motifs) have been hooked and the rug is near completion.
My intention was to do a post yesterday on the first of October but wanted to complete that right side of the rug first. Still I want to welcome in Merrie October. Dang, wish I'd not hooked the 31st and just let it say Merrie October. Think I've more of that background color so maybe I'll reverse hook those loops ....and then maybe not 😊. Design by Lori Brechlin and pattern offered by Spruce Ridge Studios. We did need rain here, it has been raining since Friday and will continue to rain through Wednesday ~ that will have been 6 straight days of rain. Thankfully it is on and off rain so no flooding. Just hope it stays on and off and not constant torrential downpours. My heart goes out to everyone in Florida who has suffered from Ian. For those of you who may have wondered, Polly Minick is fine, her house is okay and she went to stay with her family.

ReplyDeleteI hope that you can find the same background wool on your Merrie October. I agree, it would be better without the 31st.
I think that you are inspiring me to do a bit of hooking today. I'm working on that boring grey color around Mary's head.

Oh, what a nice surprise to see the Mary Comstock rug nearing completion. It really is lovely you know. But, your being a perfectionist, I understand your hesitation to say that. But, it really really is.... Yay, for the rain. Wish we could have just a bit of yours! Our fall colors this year may be mostly brown. :~(

ReplyDeleteI did the punch needle version of Merry October & messed up the lettering ....I punched it too high , so that cute design is in a basket ....I should hook it instead !!! My daughter and her two children are all October babies ...it would be perfect in her house !

ReplyDeleteSometimes you gotta love a devil? Mary is looking mighty fine. I think (if you admit or not is another thing) that you will end up liking the rug more than you thought you would once it is finished. Funny you chose to post Merrie October 31st. I have had the punch needle version kitted here since it came out and finally pulled it out once I finished the black cat box. I vowed, though, that I will finish binding Jack's Crow before I start anything new, punched, stitched or hooked...Whether that vow is kept or not remains to be seen. Stay dry.
