In the past I was always thinking about what my blog will be about the next time since I used to try and post every other day. But almost didn't do this post after 4 days in solidarity of those many others who have given up the ghost.
I have a routine, every morning with a few cups of coffee. First I go to read my regular blogger posts, but most mornings no one has posted. I've looked at their page to see how many posts they do a month. For those who haven't dumped blogging all together, I see from 1 to 4 posts a month which was disheartening. So why should I worry about how often I post?
And, for all the hits I get on mine (at the moment the Eagle update has 126 hits) yet there are a limited number of people who take the time to comment ~ most of whom are my loyal on-line friends anyway. Is that an indication my post wasn't comment worthy? If so then why should I take the time to write one when I could have spent that time hooking?
But there are those kind folks who are NO-REPLY bloggers whom I cannot respond to as they haven't listed their email address in their "profile settings". First click on your profile image, top right of screen, click on settings, then profile and type in your email address. Don't forget to SAVE your setting.
So I'll get on with the post ... the title says Antique Rug Show but I'm only posting a couple because I've no enthusiasm doing this post either. And that is why I've been MIA the last few days.
A cabin with a faded out willow tree.
Cute kitten and pup.
Sorry to be in such a downer and guess it is just disappointment more than anything. Other than that life is good ~ I made a pot of chicken rice soup, Eagle is coming along well and have another rug camp with Caroline coming up the first week of November.

TA TA as I'm going to make myself happy by hooking.

I’ll be the first to comment. I’m glad you post and I appreciate your sharing your talents. Sheepunderfeet
ReplyDeleteI can't believe it has been 9 days since I did a blog post. That may be a record for me. Every day I say today is the day, but we both know the road to hell is paved with good intentions...lol!
ReplyDeleteKeep on blogging, my friend, and I will keep on reading and commenting!
I always look forward to your posts ...and I have been terrible about posting ....
ReplyDeleteI have been so busy having fun hooking & making some items for our one & only craft fair a year . I will try to get one by the end of the week !
Love your antique rug shows ....and this cabin is really pretty !!!
There hasn't been as much posted on the FB rug hooking sites either ....
Keep on posting & hooking !!!
Thank you so much for all you great posts !
I'll be the first to tell you that my posting has been nil all summer as I feel that I have nothing exciting to share. I remember when I first started to blog, I had no idea what I would share until I sat at the computer and my fingers hit the keys.
ReplyDeleteBut day after day the words would come tumbling off the keyboard unto the screen with no effort.
Now I can barely be bothered to post. I read my followers blogs and I try to support and encourage them by leaving comments. Followers are hard to come by now and many live alone. Let us all stand in unity in encouraging our followers.
I always look forward to reading your blog and giving you my two cent worth on those antique rugs. Don't give up, you are an inspiration to me and I look forward to reading your blog every time.
Hugs, Julia
I look forward to your blog posts and would miss it. I have bookmarked some posts. One is your demonstration of Kris Millers star technique. Denise
ReplyDeletewhich Denise is this as this comment is a NO-REPLY blogger. Sorry, wish I could respond to you but am quite happy you read and made a comment.
DeleteI get frustrated with commenting on my phone. It shows I’m signed in but something in my settings doesn’t let it show my name. I once figured it out but recently had to get a new phone so back to anonymous 😕. I pulled my forever quilt out to work on since it’s cooling off. Your soup sounds tasty 😋

DeleteI post every 4 days except when Christmas comes then I do every other day. Some posts get more comments than others, but I still love blogging and reading what my blogging friends are up too. Please dont stop as so many of my blogger friends have stopped through the years. I so love looking at the antique rugs you post and the ones you are working on. Janice
ReplyDeletePlease never stop blogging. I know it can be frustrating. I blog twice a week sunday night and Wed night. I like having a schudle to keep to. I was only blogging once a week but stepped it up. I know some people worry they don't have enough to post about but I love hearing about daily life. I keep a little note book on me so when an idea hits I write it down sometimes it is just one word.

OK, missy - you asked for it... :-) Warning - uncaffinated free-wheeling babbling ahead!
ReplyDeleteI read your blog, but commenting...I guess often I'm not awake enough to leave a coherent comment. Or a witty one. Or one with unasked for advice. I almost didn't comment now thinking "later, when I'm more awake". Then thought I'd probably never get back to leave one. It's not just blog/forum posts, in real life I'm constantly bombarded by "you're so quiet!". I'll try to do better commenting. But remember, you're not alone in the lack of comments on posts.
As to bloggers cutting back or quitting, it's WORK to write a post. A least it is for me. I know of very few bloggers who haven't cut back posting at some point or another. Some return when their mojo returns, some come back but write about what they've moved on to, and some moved on to quicker/easier ways to share their projects. And when one has spells where progress on projects is lacking...ugh. Does one not post? Post about other things and get complaints of "I thought this is a (fill in main subject) blog, why are you writing about that?!" IMHO, I'd rather see a post about another topic, even if I don't read the post. For example - "what I'm reading" posts. I don't read them, but am happy to see they haven't given up blogging.
Dang...I had more thoughts, but lucky for you they got derailed when I went to feed the kitties. Speaking of.... LOVE the kitten/puppy rug! The expression on the puppy is hilarious!
Well, second post I read today commenting about blogging frequency. Hmmm. I'm the first to admit I am an "irregular" blogger and, yes, have only posted once this month. Blogging to me, as Lori said, is more "cathartic," and I do not wish to post if I do not feel I have anything worthy of saying. I tend to buck against schedules or doing something because it's expected or it's "time." I guess in that I disappoint as I inevitably disappoint in many other aspects of my life. ~Robin~
ReplyDeleteIf you're interested, Lori, this is a post I did on resolving the "anonymous" issues: https://thecrankycrow.blogspot.com/2023/04/anonymously-yours.html
ReplyDeleteI love your blog posts and even though I don’t comment often doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate them.
