Yesterday brought heavy hard rain and forceful winds all day up to 50mph with higher gusts. While hooking I heard a THUMP so knew a limb had fallen onto my deck. And thankfully power was still on when I went to bed.
But at dark O'clock when I woke to go to the bathroom it was pitch black and had to feel my way there. Had no idea what time it was. Then daylight came and still didn't know what time it was as there was no working clock and my iPad was in the kitchen.
Got out of bed, checked the iPad and it was 6:40 am. Couldn't take a shower, no hot water. Couldn't make coffee, no water and no electric. The house was getting chilly but it usually is when I wake up until the heat is increased. Finally about 9 am the power came on and could eat my oatmeal but missed my morning coffee in tandem with the internet fix. In checking the thermostat the temp in the house was 59* so turned up the heat.
And my task today is to remove these limbs and those others around the yard.

How true it is that March comes in like a lion! Have hope though because it goes out like a lamb (fingers crossed). I’m glad you have your heat and electricity restored.
ReplyDeleteThankfully the limb fell on your deck and not the house.
ReplyDeleteOh, whenever I wake during the night (and it is too often), I must know what time it is so I know how much longer I can sleep 🤣🤣🤣

Oh dear, looks like you have more snow than we do. I am so ready for spring and flowers and fresh air. Well you get it.
ReplyDeleteWell dang.... that's not the way to wake up. Glad the power was restored relatively quickly though. We had a nasty winter storm come through yesterday....first buckets of rain the night before, then snow and horrific winds with drifting and limbs/trees down. My outdoor yard light is now at a very peculiar angle (after 15 years of being perfectly straight) and I heard there are a lot of trees down at the lake. Ugh...winter can exit stage left real soon in my book. ~Robin~
ReplyDeleteA little spooky waking up to no electrics and not knowing what's up. For that very reason I'm glad we have gas here and camping gear around. I At least I can do some hot water on the stove. A relief you didn't have to wait too long for restoration. We went days off and on during the fires. I got a small solar charger for my phone and neck light that helped.
ReplyDeleteNot a good way to wake up one bit. I might have stayed in bed. So glad the power came on soon. Once it took days when we had that major blackout here. At least it was in the Summer when that happened. Not fun either to have more limbs come down. We had some pretty strong winds and I was so glad nothing came down near us. Janice
