Or, make that fix #3 as 'the nose job' on Golden Ben in the Garden was the first one. Below is a design by Lori Brechlin and pattern sold by Spruce Ridge Studios. Here is the before, hooked 2016 in a class with Kris Miller.
The eye kept bothering me because she looks like a cyclops, lol. Only prey animals have eyes on the side of their head, a human looking forward would have the pupil looking forward.
This is the after and while fixing it thought the eye outline above was too bold. The 'after' does have an outline but half that of the before.
These fix detours are deterring me from finishing the Double Horses, thus delaying my next hooking fix. But perhaps I might begin to like this rug a tad more now and it will be on my harvest table until Halloween.

Funny I liked the before but you are so right it looks better changed.
ReplyDeleteCathy
I have several rugs needing a tweak, but low on my priority list 🤷♀️
ReplyDeleteYour tweaks are always the best.
I actually like both versions. The first is more folk-arty and reminds me of a tarot card or the all-seeing eye kind of thing. Did you remove her chin hair (or did you do that before? Something is tapping at my ever-fading memory....) (Wanna come do some "fixing" here....Full disclosure: not just rugs won't be involved....)
ReplyDeleteEdit: "not just rugs WILL be involved"....Geesh. I really need to re-read my comments before hitting "publish."
DeleteEDIT is much better. Glad you changed it. It does look better. Enjoy it now until Saturday! Janice
ReplyDeleteLike Robin said, I too like the folksy first picture. She seems to have more power...
ReplyDeleteBut you have to live with that witch and you know what you like best. Take away her power and you can control her better. hehe
Happy Halloween
I like both ways too ! LOL This is a great pattern !
ReplyDeleteHey! I like the change :)
ReplyDeleteSaundra, your cyclops line made me laugh out loud — only prey animals have eyes on the side of their head, so of course a human looking forward needs her pupil looking forward! I love that you trusted the bother enough to redo the eye with half the outline, and that these little fix detours are part of the joy, even when they keep the Double Horses waiting. The witch looks just right now, and I hope you enjoy her until Saturday and beyond.
