Had planned to give you an update on Magdalena's Animal Parade but changed my mind and decided to post a couple old rugs instead.
Don't have a date on this antique scrolls rug but you could put the family name in the center or Welcome or whatever else you choose. Dimensions of this rug was 39 x 64.
Another of the antique rugs located at Cogswell Grant is this flower rug. No date but for it to be at Cogswell Grant it must qualify as an antique.
I love horses and horse rugs but am not that crazy about this one~ too much border and not enough horse. Yarn hooked 19th century, dimensions of 15 x 33.5.

A ship between houses, probably indicating a ship between two shores representing a sailor's life. Hooked early 20th century and think someone did an adaptation of this but it is copyright free if you want to do your own adaptation.
Hooked late 19th century is this awesome rug from the estate of Lisa Whittington. The rug measures 40 x 64.

Sure hope I find some new rug auctions soon as I'm running out of rugs I really like and am always on the hunt for something interesting to hook. Since I changed my mind and did this post on old rugs, guess what you'll see next post...yup, another update on the Animal Parade, sorry,
It is FRIGID HERE!!!!! Temperatures lower than normal for this time of year and expected to get down to 21* tonight but with wind will feel lower. My propane kicked in a couple weeks ago when it reaches a low of 39* so within a couple more weeks will have to buy another tank $ $ $.

I find the flower rug the most appealing to me...not that I would ever hook it!
ReplyDeleteYou are colder than we are. BBRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!
When I read your header the first thing that came to mind was you were giving up on your latest hook. Glad that was not the case. Not a fan of those tiny horses either. They get lost in that border. Yesterday morning it was 26 when I went to work. Me old bones aint ready for this cold yet, but I know I have to. Janice
ReplyDeleteThat's brrr for you,,,,too cold,
ReplyDeleteOur propane has been running non stop,,,,
Today more snow ,,,,and Winds!
Oh my winter!,!,,
Love that huge rug,,,
It has been bitter here in the mornings, in the teens ! We got a dusting of snow & could get some more tomorrow, but then it warms up for next week !
ReplyDeleteWow the last rug is huge and all those squares , Yikes hooking that would be crazy ! Stay warm & cozy !!!
I kinda like that flower rug....but that last one is very interesting...love how the kitties pop on it. ;-). Today was an awful weather day....We had some snow...not a ton, but with the 40 mph+ winds whipping it around, you couldn't see at times to drive and the drifting is making the roads treacherous. It's not even 7 pm here and we're at 9ยบ with a "feel like" temp of -12. I'm over it already. Stay warm and cozy.... ~Robin~
ReplyDeleteSo funny as I am looking at the rugs I wondered when when you would ever run out of rugs lol. There are some good ones in there.
