Oh My What a Mess

This is a recurring event with me in my wool room.  A MESS!!!!!!!!!!  No room on the shelves so there is wool on the floor.....

...wool and hooking related things on every flat surface other than the floor and even draped across a chair back.

And there really must be some intrinsic emotional problem with me because I just ordered two yards of Cranky Lizard from Betsy.  Figured I'd better order it now because it is one of my favorites to add to my primitive black background and had used it all up.  Well that is except for the half yard I purchased in November at camp with her.   Since it is a favorite to many am sure it will be gone in a flash.

Now, you see that one clean spot where my cutter sits?  All the wool you see piled up on 2 flat surfaces below the table was where the empty space is.

However, I had an order for two patterns, one I had on hand (Domestic Zoo) but Auntie Peanut had to be drawn.  Domestic Zoo is so large and most hookers what their patterns NOW, so always keep one of those drawn and ready to ship.  Since there was no open drawing space on my drawing/cutter table had to clean if off to draw Auntie.  So the patterns are in the mail now and it won't take me long to make a mess of that table again.

I'm getting close to being finished with my adaptation Cherries and Candy Stripe and will need to clean up the room before I switch to the new rug on my frame.  My plans are still to hook a pattern I'd gotten  from Barb a few years ago.  Actually I've a few patterns purchased while at a WF camp so should start hooking those instead of drawing my own adaptations since they are instant gratification.

Tomorrow I'll show you an update to Cherries and Candy Stripe and hope all that would require is doing the binding.  Then it is clean room time and start pulling wool for Hannah's Hen.

Anniversary of Ben

It is hard to believe that I have had Ben for a whole year now.  I'm as happy (actually happier) today than the first day I brought him home.  He was 3 years 7 months then so is now almost 5 years old and just a sweet gentle giant of a boy.  He still has a lot of puppy in him but then the bigger the dog the longer it takes for them to mature (this from a vet and Rottweiler owner).

Dr. Lewis also said that Rottweiler's are big babies and this is evident when his huge paws step on an acorn in the driveway and he turns and comes to me with a pitiful look as if to say 'make it stop hurting mommy'.  So I rub his 'toe-toes', talk to him to console him and then off we go back on the walk.

Here is a picture of Ben intently watching the squirrels outside and when they get out of eyesight from this window he darts to the guest bedroom to keep a closer eye on them.

Ben likes to play with his toys, particularly the squeaky toys, loves his Kong with the challenge of getting cookies out of the center and also loves his big bone when it is filled with peanut butter.  Here he is trying to get those cookies out and if this technique doesn't work he stands up and tosses the Kong so that it bounces on the floor and hopefully something will be jarred loose.

On another note, today I updated my patterns page to post pictures of Melinda's hooked Frost Sheep rug as well as Auntie Peanut which was hooked by Lauren; thanks gals, I'm very proud to post your pieces on my web site .

A Little Work and a Little Play

I've been spending some time this week in my wool room drawing patterns for someone ~ there's a dozen sitting on top of my ice cream parlor table and there is a Domestic Zoo pattern sitting on the chair to the right which is ready to go when I get another order.  

I always like to have a Domestic Zoo drawn ahead of time because it is a bear to draw and when a hooker wants a pattern she(or he) wants it NOW!  Hey, I'm only saying what I'm like..... when I get hot for a pattern I cannot wait to get it.  Well I have waited but you know what I mean.


And, thanks to Lauren of Rugs and Pugs I received an order for an Auntie Peanut pattern, you can see it all drawn up on my drawing table.  Thanks for the plug Lauren.

Now to the 'play' part......  If you scroll back to the top picture you can see some wool hanging over the back of the parlor chair and the corner of a picture in a page protector.  That is a picture of an antique rug which will be my project when I go to Woolley Fox in May.  Yeah, I know it is over a month away but hey, like I indicated before.... when we hookers get excited about an event or a new pattern we just have to play with it.


And I'm truly surprised that my wool room has continued to be rather organized.  However, it will not be that way when I return home from Barb's I'm sure.  It will go downhill from there because I tend to be negligent in returning my unused wool, have wool out that I'm cutting for the project and so it goes on and on until the room is in such disarray I've no choice but to knuckle down and clean.  If I were smart, which obviously I'm not, I would keep it tidy and put things back where they belong right away.  But will try and do better.
