Wow... March 1st

Spring has shown its self thru the weekend and today with very mild temperatures.  We all wished for this mild temperature to pass the winter freeze and snow.  Soon we'll be complaining about the heat and humidity, such is life.

Below is a stitchery I did around 1997 and is Angel of March.  It was supposed to be a quilt block but never made it to the quilt part.  And doubt my sweet daughter-in-love will do that since she isn't a sewer. Sweet Cathy loves everything I make and loves the handmade gifts I give her but she doesn't know how to sew on a button.  UH, but my son does, lol.
Below is an applique which was done about the same time.  This was also a 12 month designed pattern of applique and stitched words which hasn't been made into a quilt either.  They are just used as a table decoration for entry of the new month.
Tonight my plans are to finish the background hooking of the Rainbow Cabin and hope to print the Out of Hand Spring Challenge pattern tomorrow.

If any of you readers are interested in checking out the sheep design and considering joining please click HERE or that link above which is longer.  It is free.

Have a great evening.

February Springtime

It has been spring like weather here but things are about to change as of this evening.  Below is a quilt block I did a few years ago, is a design by Jan Patek.
Here are a few pictures I took just before the rain started.  Earlier when walking Ben could not believe the crocus were popping up in the yard.

And the daffodils are budding.
Even tho Punxsutawney Phil didn't see his shadow, which indicates an early spring, the plants may be fooled by the recent warm weather.  It is not uncommon for us in Delaware to have a horrendous snow storm in February or even in early March.  But good ol Phil is right.

Tomorrow I promise to have an update on my horse rug.  Won't promise it will be finished even tho it is smallish, but an update nonetheless. Oh, did an edit on yesterdays post because someone questioned me about using a wide cut on rug warp.  So showed a picture of a rug hooked on rug warp using #8 cut.  If interested in reading it scroll down to yesterday's blog post.

Have a great evening everyone.

February Applique and Stitchery Blocks

It's that time again.....time for me to show you the applique and stitchery blocks I made a few years ago.  This piece was designed by Jan Patek.
For the life of me cannot remember who did this 12 month stitchery.  I use to think it was "I Done my Best" then a reader informed me otherwise but it has since slipped from my memory.
If someone knows the designer of the 12 month stitchery designs I'd update my blog.  Thanks for visiting and have a great weekend.

P.S. I've been informed the designer of the stitchery is: "
The stitchery is by Nancy Huggins of The Basket Case x Needlework Therapy.

        Thanks Karen.

JULY STITCHERY & QUILT APPLIQUE'

Amazing how fast a month goes by as it seems only a week ago that I posted the June stitchery pieces I did.  As mentioned previously, all 12 months were made during the year 1997 for the anticipation of moving into our newly built home which continues to be my residence today.

This series of stitcheries I cannot remember where I purchased them or who the designer was, sorry.  p.s.  Christine has since written me to say this is a series by I DONE MY BEST stitchery; THANKS Christine.  But do remember being so excited to move onto the next month each time one was done.  Funny that you can't see the stitches of the Angel's hair yet you can pick up the wayward thread on the top right side of the stitchery...go figure.  That I never even noticed before taking the picture.
And this design is one of 12 which was designed by Jan Patek of Indygo Junction.  They were also fun to do and have even more quilt applique' patterns by her which could easily be made into a hooked piece.  Hmmmm, dang that is what I think my next project just might be once Westmoreland Ponies is done..... unless I decide to take a hard right hand turn.  I've definitely been known to change my mind mid thought.
And this one I forget the designer's name as well, sorry.  But I'm thinking it was probably in a craft magazine somewhere.
Sadly I have not made any into a quilt, a pillow or wall hanging.  I do, however, place one on a table behind my sofa for me and visitors to enjoy as they enter the living room.

If anyone should know the designers of the stitchery or the star quilted piece, please feel free to comment and I'll update the blog.

Have a happy and safe July 4th tomorrow and weekend everyone.

JUNE Applique Stitchery

Guess my head has been spinning since coming home from Woolley Fox rug camp and trying to catch up....or rather stay afloat.  Time went by so fast that I forgot to post a picture of my June Stitchery which was done in 1997.
For you new readers, this is a twelve month stitchery by Jan Patek, then of Indygo Junction patterns, and my intentions were to either finish each piece nicely for the purpose it is being used here (sofa table deco) or perhaps eventually putting all together for a quilt throw.  Well neither one got done as is evident.  This would also make a cute hooked mat idea.

However I cannot begin to think about my next hooking project until the Oh Deer and Henny Penny pieces are completed (both designs of Woolley Fox).  But, would you believe while at camp I did purchase a new design and some of the wool for it?  Won't give away the name of the design just yet...... after all, a lady does have to have some secrets.

Thanks for dropping by and please be kind to one another.
