ANTIQUE RUG SHOW

Luckily an auction house listed a couple rugs so have some new items to share.  This first one looks familiar so must not be its first time to be offered for sale.  The rug was hooked late 19th century and from the collection of Nancy and Gary Stass.  It measures 26.5 x 56.  There's too much 'in your face' bright red for me.  But do like the design.
A lion, one of my older saved photos with no info, not even dimensions.
Roosters dated late 19th to early 20th century (29 x 53.5) from the collection of Deb Fisher.
Shame this landscape below is so tattered; looks like a Canadian style.  A snow scene measuring 16 x 36.  No date was provided.
Next one caught my eye, listed as a white deer, circa 1900, measuring 26 x 34.5.  Deer are quite delicate looking but the lines on this one is unusually delicate.  If I didn't have something on my frame think I would draw it up to hook before changing my mind.  Love its quirkiness and blotchy spots.
Saw this two deer rug at an antique show on FB and wish I knew more about it.
Black cats circa 1900 measures 26 x 46.
A chenille shirred floral circa 1830 (29.5 x 59).  Sure did maintain it's color and with just a little damage that I can see in the photo along the edge.
A dog hooked late 19th century measuring 31 x 45.
And lastly, a duck runner rug.  It is cute and reminds me of the shooting gallery at carnivals I remember as a kid and which we see in nostalgic movies.  Size is 24.5 x 81.5, circa 1910.
This evening before going to bed I'll put my dried black eye peas in soak overnight and prepare them for my New Year's eve dinner and even better the next day for New Years Day lunch.  It is a Southern tradition my mother did and one I continue~ not the hoppin' John recipe tho.  You  can read about the 'Good Luck' New Year's meal traditions of various cultures HERE.

Antique Rugs

Yeah, it's that time again.  Not a whole lot more accomplished on Be Goode so will give you some rug pictures to entertain you.  The first two rugs should give Kelley a treat, particularly the second one, I like that myself.

The border blocks are certainly adding color to the otherwise black and white rug.
A duck rug with a splash of color.  Sure do like that blotchy 'use what I've got' background.
I've never had the inclination to hook a schooner yet you see them on auction sites often.
I would, however, Like to hook the antique Moby Dick rug.
This is the same rug as above but different lighting.

The horse design below is probably an E.S. Frost Design.
OMG would you look at this yarn sewn rug below?  Totally awesome and cannot fathom the work and hours involved in the process.

A soft Hen and Chicks hooked piece which I think is brilliantly done to show a landscape using very little color but neutral values.
Okay kids, time for me to eat and get hooking more on my rug.  I need the distraction from the thought of the pending hurricane as well as my cataract surgery on Monday.  But, will the hurricane be here Monday and delay surgery and extend the angst?

Today was a wonderfully mild and cool fall day.  Ben and I enjoyed our walks immensely.

Have a great evening.

Ready for an Antique Rug Show?

Since I don't want my very patient and loyal followers getting bored, thought I'd share a few antique rugs.  When I saw this one knew I had to send a picture to Polly Minick since she loves antique rugs and hooks lots of stars.
Just found this one today.
This is different with the combination of geometric and floral.
A New England rug and evidently the sides of the rug are cut off in the picture since the scrolls don't show up.
Another rug with scrolls, which intrigues me for both the color and scrolls.  I may have shown this one before and I like it.  So far I've only hooked one rug with scrolls, it is the rug posted below this one.
This E.S. Frost Sheep rug hangs over my fireplace mantel and was hooked by me.  I offer the pattern and found scrolls a bit of work to draw.....but I do it.  One day there will be another rug with scrolls that I will hook.
Sure do love this old drab rug and guess it is a tree of life.
For the cat lovers.  I like that border too.
Cats with horse shoe corners.  How cool, I received a comment that Margo White hooked this rug and adapted it from an antique.  She said it was hooked in 1996 and subsequently sold the rug.  Thanks for letting me know Margo!
And another.  Actually I've numerous cat rugs but think I've posted the others.
Guess my dog lovers need equal time.
And another doggie rug.
I like this rug, just saw it today.  He looks like either a railroad engineer or conductor.  Wonder if there were tongues on the other end; if so they didn't appear in this photo.  I like the piece.
In my collection of antique rug pictures I have 3 peacock rugs, all different.  I'm guessing hidden down deep in me is a desire to hook one?  Hmmm, not feeling it right now though.

Happy Valentine's Day to everyone.
