Have started binding Olde Ducks and already have a label made for it so will attach it to the back of the rug once binding is complete and pressed again.

Magdalena's Folk Art Horse mat is all hooked and almost completely bound. The pattern was purchased from Woolley Fox when they had their sale about 8 months ago or so. This a picture with a flash but makes everything look washed out.
Here is a picture without a flash which gives the more true color but is a tad blurry.
Notice that delicious mottled tan block in the top center? I can't remember it's name but it was purchased from Betsy and when I was in her class this month picked up a couple more small pieces. My roomie Deb noticed how nicely it hooked up so she went on a search through Betsy's wool to pick out a few quarter yard pieces for herself also. I've included a piece of that wool to the right of the mat so you can see what it looks like. When Betsy and Eric have it remilled I'll definitely buy some more.
And of course I can't forget that Jolly Snowman that I purchased from Star Rug Company last winter. He is on my school marm's desk all ready for the season.

Just a smidgen more to hook in the upper right hand corner and this one will be done. Here is a picture without a flash and may be a little blurry.

This is Magdalena's Folk Art Horse purchased from Woolley Fox and is the small size.
This afternoon I'll be in a quandary because there is no way I can go 5 days without having something to hook. I leave for rug camp on the 9th and while I do still have a little left to whip on the Ali Katz rug and will now have this little one to bind, there's no way that will satisfy my urge for hooking. Wellllll, guess I could finish up that needle felting around some of the Katz.

Ahhhh, feels better hooking with colors and designs more in my comfort zone. Magdalena's Folk Art Horse went back on my frame. This is what I was working on before attending Cape May rug camp but set it aside.
FYI, the Ali Katz rug has been steamed, all the three rows of pre-sewing around the perimeter of the foundation done in preparation of the wool whipped edge. I will enjoy the Ali Katz rug and I DO appreciate and admire bright colored rugs others hook; but for some reason it isn't comforting for me to hook with those colors. Perhaps I'm just an old soul who lived in a time when those OLD rugs were used.

All of my rugs to be in the show at Cape May have their labels sewn on....well except for 500 Mile Betts which Evelyn will bring. I loaned it to her for another hooker's version of an adaptation to the Harriet Powers quilt for the class she taught at Sauder. Frankly I'm surprised of my endurance to accomplish all those labels instead of having a hook in hand.
However, I do have something new (and small) on the frame now. This is the mat size of Magdalena's Folk Art Horse which was purchased from Woolley Fox.
This will be what I hook on the hour's ride across the Cape May/Lewes Ferry and will also entertain me before class starts on Monday.
It was Louise's rendition that inspired my color choices and she was so kind to take a picture of the wool she used. Funny thing is that I had a lot of the same wool (hey, we buy from the same people). Here is Louise's wonderful full size rug.
Since Louise's design is the larger size it is hard for me to get the detail she achieved and which Magdalena hooked in hers. Something else I give credit to Louise for is the outline of the blue area to the middle left but the doing the directional hooking which a woman like Magdalena would do. HA, me.... I just did the echo, choosing the easy way. But I'm still liking my mat.
As I'm hooking find myself reaching for my worm bag to add to the color palate a little.
