Part-time Rug Hooker Part-time Lumberjane

Well I figure if you can't beat'm join'm ~ political correctness that is.  So instead of lumberjack I used lumberjane.   Last Sunday I purchased a 12" Kobalt portable, rechargeable battery operated chainsaw.  Previously I've used a big lopping tool but I don't have the upper strength to lop thru certain thicknesses.  Recently I used my new tool to cut up limbs from a larger tree a neighbor cut down for me.  And this morning cut off the thicker branches of a pine tree so I no longer have to duck under and can get closer to the trunk of the tree with the mower.
The Thin Blue Line is moving to the sidelines for now since all the stars have been hooked so only background needs to be completed on it.  At least it is there for me to fall back on if I run into a snag with the new one on the frame.
Would you believe I finally accomplished my goal of designing a rug I'd thought about, started then stopped dead in my tracks?  Am proud that I stayed with it and didn't give up like before.  But now it is drawn on linen and who knows what the future holds for this pattern.  Guess you'll have to stay tuned to see what it is and how or if it develops into a rug....or not.
Oh gee, you can't see the design?  Shucks guess my camera was focused improperly 😚.  When there is something substantial to show you'll see what it is and maybe I'll have a name for it by then.

Yeah, in the background you can see the Potted Plant waiting to be bound.  Also  waiting for the remainder of binding is Jewel Basket.  Since I hate binding and hate waiting for anything, plans are to take them to work on the day my van service work is done.  That is 6/29 which will take about 3 hours ~ that's a long wait.   I'm sure they would bring me home like they did once before but am sure time will fly by when doing binding.

Bits of This and That

Guess it's no surprise I've started a new project; here is a sneak peak of  a small section.  Am sure you will be able to decide what I'm working on just from this.
Yesterday I started binding Lancaster Barnyard during the over 2 hours spent at the eye doctor's office.  Thankfully there was the rug to work on as I do understand how doctors are dedicated to give patients the time they need and things get backed up.  I don't like it but understand.

My cataract surgery was done October and December 2016 and new glasses purchased in 2017 and have not been back to an eye doctor since.  Noticed my left eye vision is somewhat blurry and had itchy and encrusted eye lids in the morning.  Thought it time to have my eyes checked again.

Long story short it is allergies causing the itching and crustiness.  He prescribed an over the counter eye drop which used to be a prescription and is no longer:  Zaditor.  He said it is like an antihistamine for the eye and better than some other prescription drops for the eye.  I picked it up today.  It comes in store brand names but the main ingredient is KETOTIFEN.  I purchased a Walmart brand under the label of 'itchy eye relief' or some such name but main ingredient was ketotifen.

However......the reason for my blurry left eye is scar tissue from the cataract surgery.  The doctor who did the surgery advised me before surgery that sometimes this happens.  My right eye is fine, but the left has scar tissue.

So far it has been a mild winter with high 50s and sometimes low 60s.  Today I took some photos of daffodils blooming in my yard and crocus have been above ground for a few days now.

When walking to the mailbox also noticed forsythia blooms and even blossoms on some trees.  Guess all that is the culprit to my recent eye itching and crustiness.  Tomorrow will be a shock to these beautiful plants but also to me.  Figured it was too good to last but it was fun while it was here.

Busy as a Bee and Soon a New Pattern

Seriously?  It is April 1st?  Normally I'd say time flies when you're having fun but all the snow, rain and un-spring chilly weather hasn't been much fun for me.  But with my rug hooking I obviously do find plenty of fun time in the warmth of my home.

I've been a busy gal today ~ nope, only hooked one block in the Granny Geo rug so don't have much progress to show.  But......... a follower has inquired about a antique rug that is also on my list of rugs to hook.  I eventually planned to hook it but looks like it might be sooner than planned.   You saw this picture along with other antique rug pictures in my March 17th post.
So today I've been busy getting ready to offer this as a pattern.  Thanks for lighting a fire under me Carol.  I'm still working on it and will set the paper pattern aside when it is drawn out full size and do the linen tomorrow.  I'm determined to do at least one more block on Granny before the evening is over.

Have a fabulous evening everyone.
