THIS and THAT

Am taking a brief break from my Dancing Rabbits to work on the antique adaptation Blue Bowl of Flowers.  That way it will give time to those who joined this original venue to send me a photo of their accomplishments on their rabbits.  If you are new to my blog you can find info about the Hook-along HERE.

I'm liking how this is rug is turning out but wish I'd drawn it a tad smaller than the 30 x 41 it is.  I've put this photo on my web site and if anyone wants to hook it but wants a smaller pattern I'll be happy to do that for you.
Janice (Prims by the Water) drew out her Dancing Rabbits pattern and sent me this photo.  Since she and her husband own two shops she's quite busy making items to sell and changing themes in the shops but was able to get in a little hooking time.  It looks sweet Janice and love that flower with the promise of spring.
There is a weather roller coaster here in Delaware; yesterday and today in the mid to upper 60's again and tomorrow will be at least 30 degrees cooler.  Yet my crocus have popped up strutting themselves.  Here is a yellow one growing among leaves and new holly sprout which will be plucked out later.
One of the many lavender crocus growing among the leaves and broken branches ~ a lot of broken branches in the yard after days of wind.
The wind has been fierce here and had a tree company give me an estimate on removing some trees threatening my house.  Tree companies are so busy they won't be able to get here until maybe the 3rd week of March.  Just hope the trees stay put for a few weeks longer.  The cost estimate was $2,025 and frankly I had a sigh of relief as I thought it might be closer to $3,000.

Whatever you are hooking I hope you are enjoying the process.

Springing Forward

Interesting how nature show us which colors mix well with one another.  Look at this crocus group with lavender, orange and yellow.  Should have taken pictures 2 days ago when the blooms in the yard were more abundant.  But figured I'd do it tomorrow.  Failed at a lesson my parents tried to teach me...."don't put off to tomorrow what you can do today".  Hmm, sorry.
The crocus are blooming all over my yard and lots are volunteers from early plantings thanks to the birds, bees and wind.  Daffodils have blooms too which are also planted completely around the property.
The last few days have been wonderful warm temps, even into the low 70s.  But that has started to change, it was only in the 50s today so this evening I have a pot of cabbage soup on the stove.  Lots of wonderful healthy veggies.
AND... DID YOU KNOW..... that the citric acid you use as a mordant for dying wool is ALSO known as 'sour salt'?  YES!  Years ago when I wanted to reduce my salt content heard Dr. Oz speak about 'sour salt' as a substitute.  Stopped by the local heath food store and inquired.  They never heard of it so I Googled the term SOUR SALT.

So there ya have my blog post and not a blinking thing about rug hooking 😎.  Happy weekend and happy hooking.

Bits of This and That

Guess it's no surprise I've started a new project; here is a sneak peak of  a small section.  Am sure you will be able to decide what I'm working on just from this.
Yesterday I started binding Lancaster Barnyard during the over 2 hours spent at the eye doctor's office.  Thankfully there was the rug to work on as I do understand how doctors are dedicated to give patients the time they need and things get backed up.  I don't like it but understand.

My cataract surgery was done October and December 2016 and new glasses purchased in 2017 and have not been back to an eye doctor since.  Noticed my left eye vision is somewhat blurry and had itchy and encrusted eye lids in the morning.  Thought it time to have my eyes checked again.

Long story short it is allergies causing the itching and crustiness.  He prescribed an over the counter eye drop which used to be a prescription and is no longer:  Zaditor.  He said it is like an antihistamine for the eye and better than some other prescription drops for the eye.  I picked it up today.  It comes in store brand names but the main ingredient is KETOTIFEN.  I purchased a Walmart brand under the label of 'itchy eye relief' or some such name but main ingredient was ketotifen.

However......the reason for my blurry left eye is scar tissue from the cataract surgery.  The doctor who did the surgery advised me before surgery that sometimes this happens.  My right eye is fine, but the left has scar tissue.

So far it has been a mild winter with high 50s and sometimes low 60s.  Today I took some photos of daffodils blooming in my yard and crocus have been above ground for a few days now.

When walking to the mailbox also noticed forsythia blooms and even blossoms on some trees.  Guess all that is the culprit to my recent eye itching and crustiness.  Tomorrow will be a shock to these beautiful plants but also to me.  Figured it was too good to last but it was fun while it was here.
