Don't know how your weather is where you are, but it is dreary, chilly and rainy here. So for your enjoyment I'll do another rug show then I'll hook the day away on my chicken rug.
A floral hooked mid 19th century with dimensions of 33.5 x 39.5. A tad too ornate for me and would require narrow cut so isn't something I'd hook but I do admire the beauty of the rug.
Perhaps faded, is this folky design with a Greek bottom border. No date was provided but measures 28 x 42.
The animal in this next rug looks like a gazelle to me. Dated between 1920-30.

I have no information on this nice horse rug found on an antique show posting.
At first glance I couldn't identify this next animal. But the auction house said it was a bear and was hooked in the 1920's (36 x 42).

A geometric with a hooked in date of 1931. It measures 18 x 36.
Basket of flowers dated 1920's.
As much as I love horses I've no desire to hook a horseshoe. Perhaps it is a way to focus on the horse and supposed to be good luck but I find them distracting and unappealing in a rug. This is from the estate of George Fernald, Chatham, NH.
A tan horse hooked 19th century (28 x 40).
These pups with hit and miss border are cute, me thinks. No date or dimensions.

That's it for this show. So now I'll work on my rug. Yesterday I was getting bored with the chickens and thought briefly, like a nanosecond, to put Ezra's Farm on the frame. But that got vetoed immediately and chose to stick with the chickens. Happy hooking.

It is amazingly beautiful here today but sadly starting tomorrow through Sat we are going to be getting what you are. Rain and cold I feel the trend for summer is set.
ReplyDeleteSo, for today I planted a few flowers and spread some mulch. And sit on my porch.
I am always drawn to floral rugs not sure why.

It is beautiful here until tonight , then rain moves in too ....An interesting rug show ....The Bear is pretty wild and the background makes me dizzy .
ReplyDeleteHave fun hooking !!!
Those first two rugs are my favorite. Guess I'm always a sucker for florals?? But I really like the whimsy of that second one. And that first horse (from the antique show) is beautiful too. Think it's the colors of that one that I find appealing. Cool here too and the forecast says a good chance of rain this afternoon and then we move to the low 70's by the weekend (finally!!) and then it looks like some proper summer weather next week. The few plants I had picked up were hit by the frost we had and I'm not inclined at this point to get more. Too many other things to take care of. I was supposed to pop in at Cathy's workshop but that doesn't look like it will happen unfortunately. Have fun with your chickens!
ReplyDelete.. course the horse ones are my favorites...especially that antique show posting. Our weather today is the same as yours. Hubby Bob is making spaghetti for us and we will be getting ready to eat and watch The Five. Janice
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to a chicken update.
ReplyDeleteNot that I would hook it, but I do like that very first floral.
Yucky weather here, too, but supposed to be improving!!!
The rugs are lovely.
ReplyDeleteI love these old rugs. The muted colors are wonderful. It's a great time to be working on a rug because of all the rain we have been having.
ReplyDeleteThere are quite a few I like there. Thanks for the show.
ReplyDeleteCool and heavy marine layer here. Just enough drizzle to give me an excuse to veg in front of Clarkson's Farm on Amazon. It cracks me up. Binding my hit and/or miss which takes me forever.
I really love these rugs. So interesting to look at. Thank you for sharing.
