Have been busily working on the Snowman rug to finish it. Had hoped to show it to you this evening but it isn't quite done. Hopefully this post will entertain you with an antique rug show.
Although I've a bad relationship with destructive squirrels, I love this 1907 squirrel in a flower garden. Dimensions are 17 x 38.
This rug is still listed for sale if anyone is interested. Said to be hooked late 19th or early 20th century and measures 35 x 54.5.
Essex Floral (27.5 x 44.5) given a date between 1880-1900. Is part of the property of Cogswell's Grant.
I'm not a pink person, but must admit I adore this Fisherman's House rug. It measures 28 x 41 and said to be hooked 19th century.

A rug not just for the November holiday, but every day ~ "Let Us Be Thankful". And honestly, despite whatever hardships we have had in our life, we all have something to be thankful for.
The auction house indicated this 1885 Shaker rag rug had a crochet foundation thru which strips are worked. Very interesting and a lot of work to provide oneself a rug. But they didn't have internet back then either 😊.
That's it for tonight. I want to get back working on the Snowman rug so there's something to show you soon. Tomorrow it is supposed to storm and sadly I've also a dental appointment. Otherwise I'd not venture out. Happy hooking.

Not that crazy about the squirrel, but love the flowers in that rug.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to your snowman finish!
Hmmm... That first rug could sub for a Rorschach test image. Initially I saw a swan rather than a squirrel LOL. Or maybe it's just been a really long day?
ReplyDeleteAt first I did not see a squirrel either on that rug...but then I saw it. I do love this one though...maybe its the flowers though and not for the squirrel. The pink in the fisherman's house is interesting too. Janice
ReplyDeleteThankful and Double Stags are my favorites in this rug show. I also like the Shaker Rag Rug but am I understanding correctly? The base or backing for it was crocheted and then the strips were hooked through that? I’m looking forward to your snowman reveal!
ReplyDeleteI like that squirrel rug but not squirrels. More destructive than gophers out here in Cali. I think I would put that guard dog rug outside my front door. He looks very formidable. Thanks for the show!
ReplyDeleteI like the flowers in the squirrel rug and the Blue house .....
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see your Snowman all done too !
I enjoy looking at rug shows. I do like them all. I liked your reminder that there is always something to be thankful for. I hope you don't have too much of a storm. My son told me that in the last two weeks they have received 27 inches of rain. That just boggles my mind.
ReplyDeleteyep. the squirrel won my heart....ok the dog too. {and the thankful one.} thanks for the show! ;)
