Sorry to bore you with another update but nothing else is happening in my life. Some progress has been made on my rug, which I started about 10 days ago. So far my attempt at hooking trees in the distance doesn't seem to be working. Didn't intend for it to look like a forest, just a few other trees implied in the background. Will continue in hopes that once hooked it will have a hint there are other trees in the vicinity.
That said, am wondering if I should replace those light strips from the limbs of the distant tree. Maybe keep them there for now and see what it looks like when other further away trees are hooked.
Today I'd planned to start working on the sleigh. Then remembered in class a teacher taught us to 'hook what's on top first'. So guess I'll be working on the man with a hat and beard.
Yesterday I made a pot of unstuffed cabbage rolls and it was delicious. It's an easy recipe, the only thing that takes time is cutting up the cabbage. But perhaps not as bad as if I had to parboil the cabbage leaves and roll all the meat up into logs. I also chopped 2 stalks of celery in mine. If you want the recipe you can find it HERE.
Am going to venture out today for the grocery store. As the snow froze solid with the freezing rain on top of the snow, my feet walk on top of the ice. Obviously the tires on my 1,500 pound vehicle will penetrate the ice making a ridge down my long driveway. Hope I can get out and back without a problem with the single digit temps. BTW, normally this area would be in the 40's, so the weatherman stated yesterday.
Happy hooking everyone.

I can’t believe you are almost half done with that rug. Love it! I have spent more time hooking these last few days than I think I ever have, but I am a slacker compared to you. You go, woman.
ReplyDeleteI personally love what you have done I would not touch a thing. God speed to the grocery store. I hate ice but I don't love 18 inches of snow either.

I Love how you have hooked the trees . The light colored ones in the background look great along with the snow on them . Looks like my back yard now !!! Oh I wish it would be 40 degrees here too ! We have had too many negative degree mornings and stays bitter cold , only in the 20's . UGH
ReplyDeleteFor what it’s worth, I do like your look of distant trees. I also admire the horse. He looks strong and also alert with ears up, head held high and steps with a purpose.
ReplyDeleteLoving the rug and wow! only 10 days in. Good job.
ReplyDeleteBe careful out there.
Lady Locust- I sorta fixed something so I can get my name there, but have to do it every time.
DeleteOh I really like the far away tree and more would look cool. I really like it. Makes me think of Robert Frost's poem.
DeleteI can see the trees in the background. Looks wonderful. I also love cabbage in all forms! Janice
ReplyDeleteYikes,,,stay safe,,,,ice is the worst,,,,what a Storm!!!
ReplyDeleteIs there another one this weekend to you?!?
Loving ur mat,,,,

We just got real freezing temps and more snow ☃️☃️☃️
I echo everyone else's amazement at your speed (and skill) with this piece. I really liked the original version but love yours. The original almost seems like there are fireworks or bombs going off in the distance...(or sunset???) whereas yours looks more natural...like a serene ride through a snowy, moonlit, wood. I especially like the shadowy suggestion/silhouette of the smaller tree between the two larger ones on either side of the horse. Unstuffed cabbage rolls sound yummy. I've not done anything cabbage-y in a while. Surprising given how bitterly cold we've been. But today...TODAY! we actually got to double digits above 0!! And we will stay above 0 even for our lows. Barely, but I'll take it.
