RUG SHOW TIME

I  drafted the blog post yesterday afternoon as I plan to go outside after breakfast to pick up as many limbs from around the yard as I can manage.  And if more remain I'll go out after lunch.

On with the show...horses and birds measuring 23 x 48 and said to be hooked early 20th century.  I is still listed for sale.
The animal appears to be a cat and you can see it is hooked with cotton and other textiles.  No dimensions or age.
Another cat and I can almost hear this one hissing, lol.  No age but they gave size as 23 x 33.
A buck hooked late 19th to early 20th century.  Measures 31 x 52 and from the collection of Barbara and Charlie Hunter.
Another from t
he collection of Barbara and Charlie Hunter is this rug with a cat on cottage roof, circa 1920.
On FB I saw these two bunnies someone took a photo at Dater House Antiques shop.  Sure wish I could have seen the whole rug.
And yet another FB find someone shared a photo of when they visited an antique shop.
And another from the
collection of Barbara and Charlie Hunter is the dog rug.  Hooked late 19th to early 20th century (23 x 46.5).
Thankfully the auction house provided a photo of the back to see the original and unfaded colors.
Some of those rugs are still for sale, but we rug hookers can hook our own antique reproductions, can't we?  Happy hooking while I'll be outside picking up and disposing of as many storm limbs as I can before lunch and after.  THEN, I'll have my rug  hooking time.

  2. I think what is fun about rug shows is the history. To know that there were these women who were hooking rugs and we are still hooking rugs. I like that. I love that cute little rug with that kitty on the roof. Don't over do it working out there picking up limbs.
