THIS and THAT

Have a few recently found antique rugs to share with you.  Some are still for sale on the site.   Below is a beautifully hooked landscape with dimensions of 19 x 36 but no date provided.
Still for sale I believe, is the lions under trees rug.  Size is 24 x 51.5 and said to be hooked 20th century.
Don't know who the original designer was, and there are several variations of this design, but perhaps it was a rug pattern carried by the tin peddlers of the time.  If you want to see images and read about the traveling store before there were malls, you can read about the tin peddlers HERE.

A rug depicting the Little brown church in the vale (24 x 35).
Quite an attractive rug of a single
owl and birds, but I wouldn't care to hook it, too ornate for me.
A huge pictorial rug hooked late 19th to early 20th century.  It is 5' 11" X 7' 8" and from the collection of Barb and Charlie Hunter.  Wonder if whoever hooked it did so because these were special memories, favorite things or just drawing at random?  For sure my favorite things rug would have horses and Rottweilers to start.
Speaking of horses....
this rug was hooked between 1895-1915 and measures 22 x 38.
A folk art floral with no date or dimensions.  That hit and miss border at the ends definitely adds interest.
This cat piece was hooked between 1920-1940.  It was in a wooden frame which I cropped out but the hooked section is 15 x 17.
This hooked farmhouse reminds me of the Cat's Meow Village wall sitters.  Do you remember those?  It was hooked sometime in the 20th century according to the auction site.
And, remembered to stop at the post office before going grocery shopping.  I already have a book of American Flag stamps so will use the Harriet Powers stamps for special people.
Okay folks, that's it for the show today and now will go pull a few loops.
