IT'S BEEN A WHILE

I've been busy but doesn't seem like I've accomplished hardly anything at all, even to the point of procrastinating doing this blog post.  My morning routine with coffee is checking for antique rug listings.  While I did find a couple new ones, which I'll show in a future post, below is a Flying Eagle and Shield in case this one interests anyone for America's 250th Birthday.  No date was provided for age, but comes from the estate of Vincent McGrath and measures 26 x 48.
Speaking of America's birthday, I think my decision has been made on what I'll hook.  But the decision isn't actual until it is drawn on linen.  This time I plan to have a plus one for when frustration sets in.

Now an update on my leg injury.  April 1st is when I hurt my leg; wish it was my April Fools joke on you but it did happen.  Here are two photos, the day it occurred and again this morning.

I'd have thought the redness would have been reduced since I've taken such good care of it.  I wash the area, apply hydrogen peroxide, then apply Mupirocin ointment.  Right after the injury I used triple antibiotic ointment then remembered I had an old prescription of Mupirocin.  Yeah, I'm one of those who saves old meds just in case.  All that would have occurred is the med would lose it's strength over the years.

SO, today went to Urgent Care to have it checked.  The leg wasn't feverish, and no red stripe going up the leg.  Better safe than sorry so spent over an hour at the doctor and was given a new prescription of Mupirocin and oral antibiotic for 10 days.  Surely it will be on its way to recovery now.

Sorry with the boring post, am hoping the next one will be more fun for you to read.  Happy hooking.

  1. Am glad all is well with your leg. My BIL let a wound of his fester and now he has had three surgeries to try and save his ankle. Janice

  3. Me butting in Saundra again, hydrogen peroxide acts as a debrider. It may be slowing down healing by being too hard on healthy healing tissue. Hoping you see improvement soon with your new meds. The rug you shared today is a neat one. Looking forward to seeing what you have chosen to hook

  6. It still looks bad, what a wound. I am glad you went to urgent care. I like that rug you found. I am counting down the days, three more weeks and I am done until September. I feel like I can't get much more in my brain. I have hooked only a bit.
I hope now that you have meds your injury heals faster.

  7. Eeek. My immediate thought when I saw the photos (before reading the post) was to tell you to get it checked out. It looks worse in the “now” photo than the “before.” Glad you went in. Great eagle. Love how the background has faded to perfection. I probably wouldn’t have liked the original background though.
