ON MY FRAME

Finally have a new project to hook which was inspired by an antique rug drawn for someone else, but with changes to suit my historical and ancestral records.  This is what the rug looks like today.
You may recall my mentioning in a previous blog post the following rug was drawn for someone whose ancestors immigrated to America on this ship.  This is where my inspiration came from but with a few changes.
I decided to have horizontal stripes and instead of the Rebecca ship image am using an image of The Ark which brought my ancestors to America from England.  Actually the ship The Ark, was referred to as The Ark and The Dove since the two ships sailed together.  The Ark was the largest of the two ships.  You can read more of the history and passenger list HERE.

My ancestors listed in my father's research named Thomas Greene, who was among the passengers aboard The Ark.  My maiden name is Green, so at some point the 'e' was dropped from the spelling.  Whether it was by choice or perhaps even misspelled often due to the color green, who knows.

As I was in need of a new pattern decided this adaptation would be the one.  Sadly the photo of my rug doesn't come close to that of the colors in the Rebecca photo.  Yet in person the colors look just like it.

It's a rainy day so guess I'll go pull a few loops.  Happy Hooking.

NEW PATTERN ON MY FRAME

This hot weather and holiday have given me time to draw a new pattern and hook a little.  It is an antique adaptation, so what's new, right?  Perhaps it will be a little familiar to you.
Something weird happens with my mind when there is a holiday because the regular TV programs show reruns or celebration events, there seems to be very little interaction on blogs because everyone else (but me it seems) has a life outside of rug hooking so I don't know what day of the week it is.  And a holiday on a Tuesday makes it even worse because today seemed like a Monday instead of Wednesday.

This afternoon a little after 3 p.m. I looked at the inside thermostat and the temperature outside at that time was 103* f.  Went to get my camera, put the memory card in it, returned to take a photo and the temperature had dropped to 101*.  Am wondering just how high the temp had reached before dropping to 103.  But it was wicked HOT and HUMID outside so pleased to be inside working on a rug with the A/C working.

P.S. just watched the local news at 6pm and the weatherman didn't indicate our temps for the day was that high.  But that is what it read on my thermostat inside the house.  Perhaps the sun was in the direction of the heat pump which maybe reads the outside temp?  I don't know, all I can say is that was the reading on the thermostat.

Sorry For the Wait

It has been several days since my last post and I apologize.  But a dental appointment, lawn mower maintenance, hair cut necessity, plus hours and hours to get my vehicle registration renewed.  That story is too long and boring for you read and too frustrating for me to regurgitate but at least my vehicle is tagged.

Okay.. so here is one third of the antique adaptation which is the subject of my affection.  Just looking that this section you'll know what I'm working on.
Earlier this week it was comfortable doing yard work but the weather has changed to dangerous levels of heat and humidity.  I've lived in Northern California where the temperature would register over 100* but it was a dry heat as in Arizona.  Heck, our home in the east Bay area didn't even have A/C but was comfortable with the windows open and the ceiling fans.

However, when we would travel back to Delaware to visit family from California and walk out of BWI airport (Baltimore MD) it was like walking into a sauna.  Then the drive closer to the beach along the Atlantic ocean, which is where I live....one hour away from all the beaches in Maryland and Delaware.

Happy Friday.
