OLD RUGS

Are you ready for an oldies rug show?  Here's an attractive oval circa 1900, measuring 21 x 34.
Earthy colors are my favorite although I have done my share of colorful rugs, not neon bright, but those colorful rugs are my least favorite.  Here are colors which draw me in.  Don't have a date or size but isn't it lovely?
And this one below too.  Again, no date or dimensions as this one was found on a FB antique show posting if memory serves me.
Below is a bowl of fruit with petite flowers on the sides, hooked late 19th century and measures 24.5 x 44.
Hutchinson's Noah's Ark circa 1930.  Sorry if I've posted this before, but will move it to the 'shown' folder so I don't bore you again.  It measures 34 x 53.
Not sure how old this covered wagon and log cabin rug is, but it measures
 18.5 x 29.
Another faded rug of a landscape, no date but measures 22 x 36.
Below is a dog hooked early 20th century (24 x 34).
And a view from the back.  Looks to me as tho someone drew the design of a burlap feed or seed sack.  Perhaps to memorialize their pet and maybe they ran out of grey for the ear and used blue.  Just a guess as folks back then didn't have a wool stash like we do.
Stage one of the snow has diminished and didn't get the 12" they said, thankfully.  Next stage of freezing rain should begin sometime soon I guess.  Don't plan on going anywhere tomorrow as I've plenty of food and so far heat and electric lights work too.  I certainly feel like a couch potato.

Happy hooking.

  1. I sure hope you are not getting much for the ice storm. We are getting quite a snow storm now I need to head out soon to shovel the walkway and deck before it gets to deep.

  2. My favorite is the one draped over the footstool.
Hoping the freezing rain changes direction and avoids you. We are still getting snow but maybe just 6" though still snowing. Less than predicted. No complaints from me!

  3. Covered wagon with Log cabin would be my favorite in this group. An unscientific measure of snow in our backyard as of around 4 pm was about 15 inches. Some of that could have been blown from snowblower but we did get lots of hours of snow falling. It’s the dry fluffy kind so that helped with shoveling it. We live at the end of a cul de sac though so we and next door neighbor have a good size mountain of snow pushed from the road. It’s been a long time since we’ve seen a snowfall like this one here (southern part of Ohio) Enjoy your couch potato time!

  4. I like the dog and house one. The yellow flower one on the stool is my rug. I bought it from an antiques store. This was one of my displays I showed it off at one time. I usually put it out for Autumn. LOL You must have saved it at one time from my blog. LOL...but an honor that you showed it in your rug show. Janice
