Finally Finished!!!!!

OMG, am so happy that I could scream!   Yes, I still love the Horse Trainer rug, and yes it was fun to hook...the whipping?  Uh, not so much.  But it is finished and with that extra touch of whipping.  The wool yarn was purchased from Ali Strebel at a rug camp and have two more hanks which have been dyed differently.  Plus have a bit more of left over from Horse Trainer which can be used on a smaller piece.
And the label has been sewn on the back.  Fini!  The label has a picture of the original rug hooked by Julia Eastman Stubbs with her scalloped edge.
My new pattern is already drawn on linen and ready to go.  But think tonight I will just relax and bask in the pleasure of knowing that sometime tomorrow a new rug will be on my frame.

Meanwhile, have no fear, my hands will be pulling loops ~  I'll work a little more on my grandson's Soccer rug.  Heck, this will definitely be a piece of cake and no problem having it all done way before Christmas.

Have a great evening and hope my Canadian neighbors and friends still have electricity.  Hope the impending other storm goes away.

Time! Where Arth Thou?

Perhaps I need to sleep less to accomplish more during the day. Seems my planned list didn't meet my expectations and was home all day.

This is all that I've accomplished on my rug since the last posting.  Yet there are still more patterns to draw and two rugs which are calling my name to be hooked next.  Maybe that is my problem....wanting to move onto another rug too soon.
Any newbies have questions?  I'm open for questions or suggestions on blog posts.

This and That (and Rug Update)

After three months I finally have prescription glasses and trying to get used to them.  Not sure if my frustration with them is because for 3 months I'd gotten used to readers and peaking above them for distance ~ or if the location of the close reader section of my bi-focal glasses aren't in the right position.  More on this at a later date I'm sure.

Anyway..... after working several hours drawing patterns today decided it was time to take a break and pull some loops on the Julia Eastman Stubbs antique adaptation.

Yesterday after taking a photo of the rug decided the ground under the trainer was wrong.  Here is what it looked like yesterday.  See the light wool under foot?
So, pulled out some loops and rehooked that part.  Here is what it looks like now and much better to my eyes.
On another topic here is a recent purchase, was very inexpensive and something I never knew existed.  Since my hands are arthritic, have lost strenght and have pain, it is sometimes difficult to hand sew.
I'd like to thank Jennie of Over the Hill and Running for sharing this information on her blog.  I purchased this thru my local Walmart so paid no shipping and the cost was $3.58 in 'no sales tax Delaware'.

FYI, It is called Needle Puller and if you tap on the photo to enlarge, you will see it says LoRani at top left and Dritz at bottom right.   I purchased the Medium/Large which would equate to a medium size for my finger and large for my thumb.  They fit fine and my fingers aren't dainty, lol. Can't wait to sew rug labels on now knowing it will be easier.

Have a great weekend.

Winter Wonderland and Hooking

If I had person (husband) to do my shoveling and make things safe for my walking outside, it would be great.  But I keep hearing Gloria Gaynor's words of that part of a song..."Do you think I'd crumble  Did you think I'd lay down and die? Oh no not I, I will survive...

Here are a few pics taken before nightfall.  Kept sweeping with a broom when the snow was light and fresh, then it became shoveling as the inches built up.
Wanted Ben to have a clear walk from the back porch so tried to clear that, plus the pond cover needed to be continually kept clear so the cover didn't collapse.
Just now heard the news and Seaford had 8" of snow.  The wind is blowing so it will drift.
The picture below is from the front porch where I shoveled and was soon filled in on the walkway where those foot steps are.
At least the day was spent hooking...okay, brushing and shoveling snow too.  But here is my horse trainer all hooked.  Uh, why is it the dogs need to get into the action and want to lay on the rug mommy is hooking?  Ben was ready to plop down on my rug but mama protested.
Here is a shot of my handsome horse trainer.  I'm totally happy with him.
Would you believe his coat and pants were hooked from my left over strips?  Matter of fact the majority of the border blocks were hooked with left over wool strips.

Hope you have a great evening and everyone is warm.  Tonight I'll work on background fill in.  The snow has stopped falling but the wind will take it wherever.
