I mean really, how hard can that be to decide a one-row exterior border line? My first thought was to use a gold texture since the Eagle had those colors. Nope, the wool texture was too dark and didn't look good with the eagle or that used in the hit and miss background. You might need to click on each photo for it to enlarge so you can see the color as all these photos are so dark.
Okay, so how about that dark brown color close to the Eagle? Didn't care for that either as it seemed too bold.
Then thought maybe a more red textured wool which had some gold in it might do well. This didn't suit me either.
So maybe, just maybe that texture I'm using just inside the red outlined shape and just above the Eagle's head might work.
Unfortunately I wasn't pleased with that either, it seemed too blah. So what is it with me? How dang important could one row of hooking be to pass up so many options and take so long to choose? Especially since I cut numerous strips of the gold which was sure I'd like ~ uh talk about more wool worms!!!!! Below is what has just been added to the wool worm stash. I love gold and was sure it would work, but it just didn't look right to me.
So it was time to get down and dirty and search the wool room. Wool was pulled from the bottom shelves making more mess to clean up. But had to find the one wool that worked for me. Although am sure I'd never have noticed any of those early choices once the rug was hung on the wall ... maybe.
Chosen for the border is on the left, wool on the right is the wool used inside the red outlined shape which was previously rejected as a border row.
Finally a look at the rug as it appears now. I cut the wool crosswise so some of the other colors in the stripe show up here and there. While a subtle difference, I'm happier now and putting my stamp of approval on it.
It is all about making your eye happy. What is good for one person is not for the other. Your eagle us looking fabulous.

I had to look at the pictures several times before I figured what border row you were talking about! Well if momma ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy…so glad you found a wool that worked for you.

Think the wool you chose will be really nice , because it has those other little hints of colors . Wil look great and you will be happy .
ReplyDeleteOH MY HECK.... I started writing my comment before seeing Lauren's. I almost typed the same exact thing - both about mommy not being happy and being confused about which border you were talking about. Seriously. (Except I would have spelled it "Mummy" of course LOL.). (And I won't tell you my favorite. ;-) )
ReplyDeleteI wont tell my fav either, but I know you will finally get the one you prefer. Janice
