Happy Easter

As kids Easter was all about the Easter baskets and candy.  As we matured we realized what celebrating the religious holiday was really about.

Since this is a hooking blog I will show you rabbit items I've hooked.
A rug designed by Sally Kallin named "Harry".
A painted cloth bunny holding a hooked egg and basket with hooked egg.
Mr. Cottontail, a design by Brenda Gervais.
Both the rabbit and crow purses sold years ago at a show.
The velveteen rabbit on a tuffet may have sold......or maybe it is still in one of my totes.  Perhaps I should check that out.
The rug above is a design by Karen Kahle named "Stop and Smell the Roses".
Above is the first and last wool yarn hooked rug.  It is a cute design by Claire Murray and named Strawberry Patch.  I hate hooking with yarn. No it wasn't done with an Oxford needle, but rather a Hartman hook. Don't think I'd have liked using the Oxford needle either.  To me, the rugs hooked with yarn look rather machine made or like they came from China.  Just my humble opinion and personal preference.

Hope all of you have a great Easter Sunday.

Spring * Easter * Bunnies

Both spring and Easter will soon be here and thoughts of bunny rabbits are rolling thru my brain.  This is a design by Sally Kallin titled Harry, that I hooked.  This shot is after deciding a few years after it was hooked that it really did need a beauty line between the background and border.
This is what it original looked like and am sure you can see that putting the beauty line in helped. And it is obvious the picture was taken with another camera and wish I'd taken another picture of it before the beauty line and then after, but you get the idea.
This is another rabbit themed rug I hooked.   After hooking for a couple years using wool strips thought it would be fun to hook a rug with wool yarn.  I saw this kit on e-bay and purchased it.  There must have been 4 years between starting the rug and finally finishing it because I learned that I hate hooking with yarn because my needle seemed to always go between the plys of wool.  This is a Claire Murray design titled Strawberry Patch.
And, my Edward Tulane just sold to an elementary school teacher. She said that in the spring she always reads the book "The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane" to the students because it has great life lessons which are simple for them to understand. I'm so glad it is going to a teacher and think this is the fourth teacher to purchase one.
I hate that even tho the picture is upright and saved that when posted it goes sideways.   And the rabbit is no longer around for me to take another photo of it.

Have a great week-end and be kind to one another.

Another face lift for a rug

If you have been following my blog you know that I did a face lift for a rug that I was unhappy with and it was a 6 year old rug.  And, I mentioned that same time there was another who needed a face lit too.  Well, today I pulled that baby off the floor and made a face lift.  Now, I must admit this photo is a little washed out as it was taken soon after being hooked and was outside on my back porch.  But even in the house I knew it needed a little nip and tuck after it was hooked.

But hey, the rug is done, right?  Just bind it and put it on the floor or the wall.  Yet, every time I walked on it, by it, saw a picture of it, I knew that it had to be fixed.

Perhaps my motivation was that 4 rug hooker gal pals are coming here for a Saundra's Hook-in on Wednesday.  Three of the four gals have walked on this rug for years and don't even think they will notice the change.  But I will know and will be happier.    I LOVED the pattern Harry ever since I saw it in an older issue of RHM.  And I'm loving Harry even more now.

So here is how my Harry looks now.  And, this photo was taken inside the house so it will be a little more mellow in appearance vs. washed out from the sunlight.

Oh yeah, baby... that's what I'm talking about.  This is MUCH better!!!!!  That dividing line between the border and background makes a huge difference.  And when I got out my value finder before, the values were completely the same between the pink border and background.  So now with this dividing line it makes everything stand out much more.
