MISC. RUG HOOKING CHIT CHAT

In case you've been sitting on the edge of your seat waiting to see what is on my frame, here is the preview.  Yeah, I know, wasn't even on my radar when showing the line-up of auditioning's for that position.  At the last minute this appealed to me most.

Since I've been taking advantage of the balmy weather here (up to 81* a couple days) that means fewer loops were pulled.  I drew this adaptation 26.5 x 29.
Rug binding ~  Two down and one to go.  Two of the three mats/rugs needing binding have been accomplished and left now is Mary Mary quite contrary.

Li'l Lamb front.  That shiny speck at the top curve is the rayon jacket lining; one side was black the reverse side was a shiny gold.  Will pull my cheating trick and use a black Sharpie to cover up the shine.
Below is the back and you can see how nicely the cotton binding had been gathered with only slight puckers.
I misspoke yesterday saying it was the last day of the weather honeymoon.  But today will be another reaching 80* then tomorrow will be closer to normal with a high of 60.  Also, tomorrow is ELECTION DAY, so please go to the polls, VOTE and make your voice heard.  GOD BLESS AMERICA and our CONSTITUTION!!!!!!!

Lady the Donkey

After starting this small project I took a break to bind Stars and Diamonds and started another project which I'll show you in a day or so.  Lady's halter and reins are hooked with antique paisley.  The rest is a combination of over dyed, mottled wool plus volunteers from my worm baggies.
The pattern measures 12 x 17 but the original measured 23 x 36.  I wanted to hook a small project.  And below is the antique from which this was adapted.
Am still going thru the motions of getting ready for Cape May rug camp.  There is a class going on this week and I don't leave until this coming Sunday.  Florence is supposed to hit the east coast on Thursday and destination is still uncertain.  Even if the storm hits in the Carolina's it will affect the seas all along the east coast.  Am hoping all will be safe in the hurricane's path.

Almost Ready........

....for the next journey to begin.  I've finally made up my mind which design I'll start with and if that is fun have a second one lined up.  I drew this out small and think it measures 12 X 18.  Because the original antique has a pinkish halter and reigns think I'll name this one "Lady the Donkey".
Here is the Belgian linen I drew it on which is light weight like burlap but a stronger thread and weave ~ less brittle.
Am hoping to NOT cut any wool but use wool from my worm bags.  I pulled a few to start with which are in the white basket.  The top is an old piece of vintage paisley which was in the pile of free wool at Cape May last year.  I cut it in thirds lengthwise and hope there is enough for the bridle and reigns.  And if not, Magdalena would have made do with whatever else she had that was close in color...or not.

I'm not suggesting this is a Magdalena design, merely what hookers would have done years ago to 'make do'.
Am not ready to start hooking tonight...uh, I AM READY but still need to finish binding Stars and Diamonds.  That ugly task takes longer than a couple hours and I cannot stand to be sequestered so damn long.

Going back to work attaching the outer edge of the cotton binding tape and hope to have that done before Tuesday.  That is the day of my doctor's appointment and will do the inside stitches in the waiting room.

Happy Sunday everyone.
