MISC. CHIT CHAT

Lets start with our favorite topic ~  rug hooking.  Thank goodness Double Eagles is finally bound so there's no chance of having 3 un-bound rugs waiting.  It is an antique adaptation I drew measuring 26.5 x 29.
The Forever Floral (23 x 33.5) is all hooked and I tweaked the two center pink flowers since last post and you might not even notice.  This is the present appearance and will look at it a few days to see if there's something else I want to change.
Below is the photo before reverse hooking some wool.
Perhaps spring is closer than Punxsutawney Phil led us to believe because there's an invasion of Goldfinch birds at my feeders.  I took several photos from inside thru the window and screen but of course they didn't turn out.  Then went to the porch but as soon as they heard the back door open they all flew away.

Presently I have only two bird feeders on the poles with each one having 6 feeding stations.  Those stations remain full with alternate visitors of finch, titmouse, black cap chickadees, wrens, cardinals, woodpeckers and those aggressive blue jays.  Normally I'd have two additional feeders on hangers at those poles but those would also be empty at the end of the day and sunflower seed is expensive IF you can find it.

Temps today are supposed to reach 69*F and then drop to more normal temperatures with rain.  Oh well, I'll take the warm whenever it is available.

Must decide what to hook next and finish binding Woman on Horseback.  Or I could always vacuum and dust 😒.   Whatever you do today, enjoy it.  May all your loops be perfect.

Choices, now I have visible hooked choices, so just need to make up my mind.  Didn't hook that primitive scroll at the bottom because it will be hooked in the same color of wool from the triangle border.  Don't know if it will be the unchosen color or the Ocean City wool in the top triangles.  Will reverse hook the  wool strip which shows up red at the bottom and replace it with a more brown piece of wool.
Although I reverse hooked the mint green previously hooked here is a photo of it again for reference.
As you can see I've hooked a blotchy background  ~ below is the original antique.
Unless you ate at a restaurant everyone must have some great leftovers for tonight.  So enjoy your easy night and happy hooking.

MISC. STUFF (EDITED)

Based on Judith's comment (who is a no-reply blogger so can't reply to her) I did a search on an alternative to feed burner.  It appears that IF I want to add one to my blog it will come at a price...as in $.  You can read about the research I did HERE.

So I've come to the disheartening decision that if it is too much trouble for someone to read my blog they don't want to take the time to come find me, then perhaps my blog isn't that important to them.  Sorry for the inconvenience to all  my wonderful readers because I do try to keep you informed and entertained.  C'EST LA VIE

I changed my mind on Double Eagles.  Previously I said the border would be done after the inside was completely hooked.  But couldn't wait to get started on that border.  I'm not quite happy with the green wool, which is what I have on hand.  I wanted a soft color, almost a grey green.  So may do some dyeing tomorrow and if I can't come up with an appropriate color might need to call on Loris at The Wool Farm.
Perhaps some of you readers my remember several months ago Blogger informed us bloggers they would discontinue their reader subscription program.  Obviously many of my followers contacted me saying they were no longer receiving my blog posts.

If you look on the top left side of my blog you will see "subscribe to my blog".  That was the gadget available and have no idea how it works or if it works.  This is the icon which was the gadget I added:
I'm not a techie, but it appears one might have to choose a venue from which you'd receive the post?  I've no clue and since I can't go to my own blog to subscribe guess there's no way for me to find out.  Therefore I'd appreciate anyone who attempts subscribing to please let me know if and how it works so I may inform others what to do.

In other news....Mary Comstock is all done!!!   I whipped the edge with wool yarn, each rug I complete might be bound differently but Mary wanted wool yarn.
Sorry my friends in upstate NY are enduring the rath of winter white stuff but would prefer you not share that with me.  Frankly I'm not pleased with the 10* below normal for us this time of year so am definitely not ready for snow.

If you were a follower who stopped receiving my blog posts, check out that 'subscribe' spot at the top  left of my blog.  Happy hooking everyone.

MISC. RUG HOOKING CHIT CHAT

In case you've been sitting on the edge of your seat waiting to see what is on my frame, here is the preview.  Yeah, I know, wasn't even on my radar when showing the line-up of auditioning's for that position.  At the last minute this appealed to me most.

Since I've been taking advantage of the balmy weather here (up to 81* a couple days) that means fewer loops were pulled.  I drew this adaptation 26.5 x 29.
Rug binding ~  Two down and one to go.  Two of the three mats/rugs needing binding have been accomplished and left now is Mary Mary quite contrary.

Li'l Lamb front.  That shiny speck at the top curve is the rayon jacket lining; one side was black the reverse side was a shiny gold.  Will pull my cheating trick and use a black Sharpie to cover up the shine.
Below is the back and you can see how nicely the cotton binding had been gathered with only slight puckers.
I misspoke yesterday saying it was the last day of the weather honeymoon.  But today will be another reaching 80* then tomorrow will be closer to normal with a high of 60.  Also, tomorrow is ELECTION DAY, so please go to the polls, VOTE and make your voice heard.  GOD BLESS AMERICA and our CONSTITUTION!!!!!!!

It's Rug Show Time Again

Sometimes I think people enjoy my blog more for the antique rug photos than what I'm hooking.  Hey, that's fine with me as it is an incentive for me to keep posting and looking for them.  So if you're one of those folks you're in luck.

Recently found is this Home Sweet Home rug with an almost obliterated lettering and date of March 1933 on the left side.  It was hooked with cotton and wool on jute.
An old Americana hooked rug ~ Uncle Sam holding a flag.  It measures 33.5 x 59 and dated 1900.
Here is a close up of Uncle Sam himself where you can see more clearly the 1900 date below Sam.
Am pretty sure I've posted this antique rug previously and perhaps it was when it was auctioned previously.  The primitive cats rug was hooked late 19th century which measures 24 x 39.5.  Like other rugs recently posted it is from the estate of Elaine Buck.

Dated between 1868-1933 is the floral.  I wonder if the hooker's or recipient's name was Rose.  They gave width of 31" wide but no height.  Is  hard to tell  with the angle of the photo if it is 31" square.

I really like this Lamb with blue bow, dimensions are 34 x 44 and the collection of Alain and Louise Huin.
When I first saw the above rug on the auction site it reminded me of the Reclining lamb (below) hooked late 19the century.
Double Eagles, 38 x 43, hooked late 19th century and another rug from the estate of Elaine Buck, West Chester, PA.
And finally, a Horse with an outlined cropped tail hooked late 19th century.  In 1999 it sold for $1,725.
Still no clue what I'll hook when the 'Mary oh Mary' Comstock rug is finished but am still thinking and looking for what floats my boat for longer than 5 minutes.

Had my annual flu shot yesterday and since it is so dang chilly made a pot of Smoky Potato Chick Pea Soup and it was delicious.  I saw the recipe on FB about a week ago.

This morning I checked my propane (backup furnace heat) since it was at 35% level I ordered a fill-up, the price today is $3.499 but the price is going up soon I fear.  It was announced that OPEC is reducing production of oil by 2 million barrels per day.  Hopefully my price for fill-up will stay that price until at least this first delivery.
