Labeling Rugs

My labels don't get printed out until I have a full page to print. One of the rugs was finished in 2015 but didn't want to waste a sheet of printable fabric with just one label.  Having printed the labels out figured it was time to start stitching them on my rugs.

First one stitched was the Spring Challenge designed by sweet Kelley Belfast and hosted by the Out of Hand Rug Hookers group.  Since the deadline for this challenge is May 1st wanted to be certain all was accomplished.  The finished size of the rug measures 19" x 24".
For those wondering..... Most of the rug was hooked with #8.5 strips. But some narrow worms were used and for the proddy daffodils the size varied from #8 to #9.5.  Below is the label which shows the original design by sweet Kelley Belfast.  Thought the line drawing would be a nice documentation to have on the label attached.
Next to have a label was A Day in the Country, a design by Tonya Robey of Mad Hen.  It was a kit purchased a few years ago and finally hooked in November/December 2015.
The label attached has a copy of the sample rug Tonya hooked. Since I took liberties with a couple flowers thought it best to show the original hooked piece by Tonya on the back.
Next in line for a label was Flag Day Sheep.  Again I took liberties and changed it to look a little more like a design which Woolley Fox carries called Woolley Sheep.
It was only fitting that the label to the back be how the original Flag Day Sheep design looked like on the web site.
Another rug recently hooked and needing a label is Rainbow Cabin, a design by Carol Endress and offered by Woolley Fox.
This one still needs to be stitched but is just pinned in place.  The label shows a photo of the design hooked by Barb Carroll.  I've seen her hooked version in person and the photo retrieved from the web site is showing up far brighter than it really is.
Although I've posted how to do these labels on my blog before, if you're new or wish to revisit the how to... click HERE.

For those working folk... TGIF... oh but I remember that well.  It is still rainy, dreary and after all this rain the grass will be be in dire need of cutting.  But meanwhile I'll keep on going on.

Building Houses

Guess that should be worded more....."hooking houses".  And just as in real life there might be a date set for the finish of construction but it seems to go on longer than planned.
Am planning on some tweaking as I go along BUT am trying to stay as true to the delightful design that Kelley Belfast designed for this challenge.  If you would like to join in this challenge write to the Facebook open group known as Out Of Hand Rug Hooking and ask to join in the challenge.  First you'd need to join the Facebook group.  But if you wanted to join in the challenge you need to ask to be included in the challenge group which is a closed group to only those who get the free design.  Well, back to building houses.

And thinking positive thoughts for Lauren's pup Ellie who was attacked in her driveway last evening as she was getting ready to take her pup Ellie for a walk.  Please all you animal lovers say a prayer for that little pup.
Ellie
Hugs Lauren and hope you soon give us good news about Ellie.

Hooking Slump

I actually titled the blog post "Let the Journey Begin".  But that didn't really happen...yet.  Instead think the title should be what it is now.

That soon to be journey would be the Out of Hand Rug Hookers Spring Sheep Challenge, otherwise known as OOHRH. You will have to join the group in order to participate in the challenge but that is the easy peasy part.

The pattern has been drawn on linen and chose to draw mine out at 18 x 25 so those dainty daffodils would be a bit bigger.
As this is a challenge among many of us hookers wanted to make it a personal challenge for me too.  That challenge would be to use as many leftover strips of wool as possible.

It is one thing when you take a class at a camp and you can't carry your suitcase full of worms with you.  BUT at home you have those baggies accessible.

Since daffodils are a spring flower that means there would be a spring green grass, right?  So I dumped out my huge collection of greens on the table.
Then began picking grass (the bright) and flower stems (the darker). The colors don't meld well to me.  Plus flat colors don't do it for me any longer.  Flat (non-textured) are great for certain things but as I'm color planning the challenge rug am not ready to start.
Tomorrow will be looking to see what wool yardage will be used for the grass and flower stems.  Meanwhile I'm doing what I hate to do.... that is BIND a rug.  Am now on my second horse mate.

Check back to see if I get out of my hooking slump.
