MISC. CHIT CHAT

It's official.  Zach, among others, were sworn into the NAVY.  Can't wait to get his FPO address so I can write him.  Am sure he will be happy to receive word from home.  Zach will be allowed internet and phone access sometime later but not sure how often.  But when he does he will surely use that time to talk to his parents.
The horse rug is bound and the label attached.  As I didn't want another row of color for the border other than what I hooked, my binding was cotton binding tape.  The label looks rather jaundiced compared to the hooked rug.
Thought it was time to replace my privacy screen for night time rug hooking and decided to use the Out of Hand challenge rug designed by Kelley Belfast which I hooked 2016.  My sheep has a bell and decided to do proddy daffodils.
Remember the rain phenomenon I wrote about on March 17th?  Well it's still happening, and today noticed 3 spots today.  The one on the deck is still occurring but some days fewer droplets and smaller wet spot.  If you  look just above the deck you will see a circle where rain drops were beginning.  Yup, I need a new deck but recently had a new roof and in April will have my long driveway repaired and sealed.  So a new deck will just have to wait but will have it washed and sealed this spring after the green pollen has appeared and left.
At the bottom of the picture below I've circled the three areas were rain drops are occurring.  At a distance away you can see the the other two circled.
The Shelbourne Bouquet is getting frustrating so think a plus one is forthcoming.  But will try to forge thru a little longer.  Happy hooking.

April Rug Camp and Other 'Stuff'

Three days and a wake up I'll be on my way to Maryland Shores Rug Camp in a class with Cindy Irwin.   The class was cancelled 2020, again 2021 and now finally 2022 it is a go.  I'm still planning to hook a monochromatic piece of my mother as a young woman holding a fishbowl.  Since I chose to do this in 2020 and knowing how fickle I am, have surprised myself that I'm still gung-ho to hook it.
I drew the pattern measuring 13.5 x 16 and this morning wondered if I should draw another pattern a tad larger.  In looking at the pattern critically think I can endure whatever narrow cuts it requires in some places and still use #8 cut in some areas.  The narrow cut strips in the baggie I inherited from a friend's mother who was a rug hooker.  Cindy will be bringing more sepia colored wool to supplement whatever I need.
Is it spring....duh, global warming?  Really?  The calendar says it is spring but January temperatures have been below freezing during the night and only reached 35 one day.  Which meant my propane heat kicked in for many hours during several days = $$$$.  The weather presents another problem ~ what the heck do I pack to wear at camp?  I'll wait until Friday to print out a 10 day forecast, then check it again to begin packing on Saturday for the Sunday departure.  Probably with some last minute additions or withdrawals if the forecast changes.

Have you ever seen a rain phenomenon?   I took the photo below on the 18th of this month and still a small continuous dripping of water from the heavens continues.  Mind you we've had a day of rain, snow flurries yet this strange phenomenon still exists.
I captured it in a video previously in 2018 and that one happened behind me about 2 feet away from the one in the photo above.  You can see that blog post HERE.  Wonder what causes this phenomenon and how strange it occurs in a close proximity to a previous experience.  Any of my loyal readers have family or friend who is a meteorologist or scientist who can provide me a simple explanation?

Happy hooking m'lovelies.

Strange Phenomenon

Yesterday while raking up the many bits of fine limbs from the back yard I noticed two wet spots on the edge of my bird feeder area.  Stood there for a few minutes and watched as single droplets of rain fell in the spots.  It was not raining anywhere else and even tho I was positioned close there were no dots of rain on me or on the deck behind me.
Just came from working in the yard again and noticed the phenomenon happening in the very same spots again today ~ a second day.  Don't know how many days this has happened because I never noticed this until yesterday.

I took a video and have never posted one before so don't know what I'm doing or what app to use to watch it other than Windows Media Player.  And even then the picture is lousy; guess I'll not be making films in Hollywood, eh?
The video above was at a distance so the drops didn't show up.  Will put my first video up now, but I'm not speaking, a filmmaker I am not.  Hope the rain drops show up here.
So I did a Google search for an EXPLANATION, that is IF there was any.  Click on the word to see what I learned.  Happy Easter.
