Buried Treasure

Slowly I've been trying to purge my cottons, craft supplies and other clutter which has accumulated over the almost 20 years while being here.  Believe me there is a long way to go because I've doll patterns, more fabric, accessories to go with dolls, clothes.. you get the idea.

And no, my house doesn't look like a hoarder lives here ~ I've successfully been able to hide all my faults on shelves, attic, boxes...sigh.

Imagine my surprise when I found a treasure trove of stitchery patterns by The Basket Case which I thought lost.  Eventually I am planning on putting the entire 12 month collection on either eBay or etsy but plan to place several listings at the same time.  Originally these individual patterns were $7.25.  Some may have had a carrot button for a nose or some other button.  Some items I used and some not, but the carrot nose for a snowman can be embroidered...after all it is a stitchery design.  You can see 3 packages which has a button or accessory which I didn't use.
In this treasure trove also found a collection of Curtis Boehringer's Redwork designs which I never did do.  And don't ever plan to do stitchery again as the rug hook is glued to my hand.  There is an empty spot for May and for the month of August.  Not sure if I just didn't go back to the store to pick up the others when they were released or if they may be buried somewhere else here...which I doubt since all these were in one pattern box.
There are several other stitchery patterns which I haven't taken pictures of yet.  This pattern is for Christmas ornaments and includes the fabric and floss.  It is an Indigo Junction design and I've no interest in doing these or other stitchery now.
There are several other stitchery patterns never been used and will eventually take pictures of them when I'm ready to post on either eBay or etsy.  I'm not planning on listing each month individually when it is a 12 month series.  But there are some of The Basket Case stitcheries which were individual designs and will be listed separately.

Yup a treasure of the lost was unearthed.  Made a little headway on my Sheep challenge but still not done since I'm multi-tasking mending son's work pants, pulling items to take to the thrift shop, still working on grandson's motifs.

Have a great Saturday evening.

Spring has finally Sprung and Stitchery Quilt Block

With the snow during the winter gone and the long delay of spring weather ~ spring has finally arrived.  Look at the beautiful yellow in my yard with the forsythia and daffodils in full bloom.
And tho hard to see the periwinkle (vinca minor) is popping out too.  Soon the trees will be rustling with fresh leaves.
Yesterday was a lovely day and in the afternoon I sat out back on the deck near the fish pond and perused thru a bunch of old Rug Hooking Magazines.  It really was fun to peruse old issues and rediscover techniques and look with a different eye now that I've been hooking for a while.

And remember this giveaway that Kellie of Indiana won?
Kellie was sweet enough to send me a picture of a stitchery she did from the book.  Great stitchery quilt block Kellie, thanks for sharing and glad you are enjoying the book.

Enjoy your weekend, I just might enjoy the back deck this afternoon as well and continue looking thru the magazines since it was such fun yesterday.

Winner of the Giveaway is.......

CORRECTION.....Debbie of Woolnsails isn't the winner after all. Let me explain....Debbie wrote me saying she hadn't entered the giveaway and suggested that since she had so many other projects going that I choose a name of someone who entered.

Here I was trying to be a good soul and I couldn't reply to Pudgypooh since she is a no-reply blogger, clicked on that name.  It directed me to her profile and the only blog listed was Woolnsails.  So thinking it must the right place notified Debbie she was the winner.  Then Debbie wrote saying she didn't enter.  Well there you have it, no more will I enter a no-reply blogger or attempt to find them.  Ps.  Pudgypooh, Once again I tried to respond to you last message but it is a no-reply that comes up and the message doesn't make it back to yo.

So, now the winner is...... Kellie of Indiana.
Congratulations Kellie, and can't wait to see which project you decide to do first.  Hope you'll post it on your blog whenever you do finish one.  Please e-mail me at saundra125@comcast.net and give me your snail mail address.

I'm still dragging my feet on the commission so don't have anything to show you today.  Am hoping to have something productive to show you on something .... anything....tomorrow.

TGIF to you working folks, and enjoy your weekend.

It's not too late for the Giveaway

IT'S NOT TOO LATE to sign up for the Giveaway.....Remember this applique piece from my previous blog post?  After the post I went in search of the pattern and found it.  And because I'm not into quilting or applique much any more have decided to do a Giveway to a lucky someone who still enjoys it.
Here is a picture of the front of the booklet.  But of course it is yet another Indygo Junction pattern as I love all things designed by Sarah Sporer and Jan Patek.

Here is inside the book and the design made for my mother.
All the templates are intact in the book.  Before making the one for my mother I copied all the templates on THAT particular design so that the book wouldn't be ruined.  Plus, all those templates I used will be included so that you won't have to ruin the book if you do this same design.

Okay.... so here are the rules:

The winner must be a FOLLOWER (so I suspect my Followers will increase from 215 upwards)Only shipping to US only (sorry guys in Canada and elsewhere), and most importantly I must be able to reply to your comment.  In other words, check your 'profile settings' and see if your e-mail address is listed there.  If not, you will come up as a "no-reply" so you cannot receive my e-mail.  Therefore your name will be deleted.

Leave me a comment saying you want to enter the giveaway and I'd really like to see it go to someone who plans to use the booklet to make something.  The name will be drawn Friday February 28th.

Have a great evening everyone and good luck for you guys who want this delicious booklet by a great designer.

If it's November First, then ......

.....it must be time for the November quilt applique' and stitchery pictures.  For those of you who have followed me for a while then you know I post these each month.  Since I can't remember which month last year this theme began it might soon be time for me to drop this idea and give you guys a break.

Of all the quilt applique' pieces I've made for the 12 month year this one is my very favorite.  It is this one I want to hook and cannot believe that I've not done so in the 16 years I've lived here.  Dang, I used a different setting on my camera for some reason so it doesn't have the clarity of the stitching for the eyes, etc.  Oh well, you get the idea.  Yet it IS a primitive and tea stained piece so no biggie.
This is the stitchery I did and both of these were projects intended to be completely finished in an individual quilt ~ one for the applique months and one for the angel stitchery months but never got that far.
After completing the fun part of the applique quilt and stitchery pieces, is when I then became interested in traditional rug hooking.  My intentions then were to finish each piece properly and with a backing and use it on the sofa table for the appropriate month instead of a quilt.  But alas, it was over for quilting and I just enjoy my humble endeavor each month on the sofa table just as it is.

Have a great evening everyone and enjoy this warm weather on November 1st as it will change soon.

Woolley Hugs.

Guess What Time It Is

Since it is the first day of October it must be time for the monthly stitchery and applique quilt pieces to make their appearance.  It is hard to believe it is October already and soon we'll be in the holiday season again.

This applique' was one of 12 designs by Indygo Junction.  As has been explained before, the 1997 date is the year the house was to be completed and wanted to document that on the quilt pieces.
This stitchery with the October angel is one of 12 designs by I Done My Best.   I have been informed the information of the designer isn't who I thought but rather is the work of Nancy Huggins of The Basket Case x Needlework Therapy.   So sorry to have given the incorrect information for those of you who may be seeking out the designs for yourself.
Both of these were done way before I'd been bitten by the hooking bug and don't have any desire to do embroidery any longer.  However, those Indygo Junction designs could easily be adapted to a rug pattern and there are a few I've considered doing just that.

Thanks for stopping by for a brief look and a quick 'howdy'.  Have a great day.

September 1st ~ Labor Day

And 10 years ago today it really was a labor day for my sweet daughter-in-love when she gave birth to my grandson Zach.

Since it is the first day of September, and to keep the trend going, will show pictures of a quilt applique that I made the year this house was being built.  I think this is quite an appropriate design for September with the 'empty nest' since the kids leave to go back to school or college.  It is a series of monthly designs by Jan Patek of Indygo Junction.
And before getting into rug hooking also did this stitchery by I Done My Best.  Oops, I see a red thread trailing the T in September and is distorting the words "Today is Sunny".  Guess I need another cup of coffee to wake me up.

I think the September Angel is cute.  And as you can see neither of these stitchery pieces have been finished or made into a quilt and frankly doubt they ever will be ~ by me anyway.

Enjoy your holiday weekend and hope it is a long one for you working folks.

JULY STITCHERY & QUILT APPLIQUE'

Amazing how fast a month goes by as it seems only a week ago that I posted the June stitchery pieces I did.  As mentioned previously, all 12 months were made during the year 1997 for the anticipation of moving into our newly built home which continues to be my residence today.

This series of stitcheries I cannot remember where I purchased them or who the designer was, sorry.  p.s.  Christine has since written me to say this is a series by I DONE MY BEST stitchery; THANKS Christine.  But do remember being so excited to move onto the next month each time one was done.  Funny that you can't see the stitches of the Angel's hair yet you can pick up the wayward thread on the top right side of the stitchery...go figure.  That I never even noticed before taking the picture.
And this design is one of 12 which was designed by Jan Patek of Indygo Junction.  They were also fun to do and have even more quilt applique' patterns by her which could easily be made into a hooked piece.  Hmmmm, dang that is what I think my next project just might be once Westmoreland Ponies is done..... unless I decide to take a hard right hand turn.  I've definitely been known to change my mind mid thought.
And this one I forget the designer's name as well, sorry.  But I'm thinking it was probably in a craft magazine somewhere.
Sadly I have not made any into a quilt, a pillow or wall hanging.  I do, however, place one on a table behind my sofa for me and visitors to enjoy as they enter the living room.

If anyone should know the designers of the stitchery or the star quilted piece, please feel free to comment and I'll update the blog.

Have a happy and safe July 4th tomorrow and weekend everyone.

HAPPY MAY

Spring is definitely in the air and so is the pollen but the leaves and new green grass is ever nice to look at instead of snow.  This is just one of 12 stitchery designs by Indygo Junction which I appliqued and stitched the year this house was being built.
They were all fun to applique and I'd planned to finish each of them properly but think only one was finished nicely.  Each month I look forward to the change out.  This one I placed on the school marm's desk to take a picture of it and was moved back to the sofa table.

There are a few designs which would make great small hooked pieces too; one design I plan to hook before next winter.  This particular design is tempting me to buy some new herbs for my garden.

Have a great evening everyone, and please be kind to one another.
