IT'S NEVER TOO LATE

Canadian loyal follower, reader and commenter Elaine sent me her "finally finished" (her words not mine) Lone Flower from a previous challenge.  Elaine has participated in a few of the challenges in the past and here is her Lone Flower, an antique adaptation.
Elaine says it is mostly yarn but I do see other fibers including maybe wool.  She knits a LOT so those are probably usable worms to her when there isn't more than two hanks/skeins or whatever quantity it takes to make a pair of socks, lol.

See, it's never too late to finish that hooking project and email it to me to share on the blog.  The caveat is that you would have taken advantage of the designs available at that time.  Thanks Elaine and wonder what is your next project....knitting or hooking?  Inquiring minds want to know.

Lone Flower

Am finished hooking the antique adaptation Lone Flower.
In previous posts I've shown antique rugs which were finished by folding over the foundation and pulling loops thru the layers.  In one step it protects the edge of the foundation and a form of self-binding.  I tried to do that with this piece but found it difficult to manipulate the loops on the edge.  Don't know how they did it back in the day.

Since I want this piece to resemble an antique I don't want a whipped edge as that would make it look too modern.  As would wool or cotton rug binding not look authentic.  So will fold over the foundation and tack it down.  After all it isn't going on the floor so won't get lots of use.  Am sure it will go on a wall or put on a table somewhere here.
Tomorrow as I'm sitting in the waiting room at the eye doctor will finish binding Early Bird and work on this one too.  Happy hooking.

I'm Late....Again

Honestly, I do try to do a blog post every other day but sadly I've been late a LOT lately.  But then many bloggers have given up the ghost for quite some time so guess I'm one of a few survivors.  For that reason I should be more diligent in my blogging pursuits of a lost breed.  For sure blogging is my preference to FB.

Anyone reading my blog who is a hooker and has a blog, please reach out, give me your link and I'll put you on my side bar so others can enjoy your work as well.

Okay, not done yet, but thought I'd show you the progress on Lone Flower.

Oh well, I'll continue hooking as I know where it will rest once finished.  In the fall I collect and cook black walnuts as they fall into the road.  Normally I use the spray of black walnut liquid to tone down bright or too white wool but will use it on this to give it some age.

Lone Flower Update

This is my progress on Lone Flower using mostly worms.  Some of the #8.5 strips I've cut in half so am trying to use what colors I have.  Will cut only what I need and will look thru worms to find the colors I want first.
I'm not a packer anyway so its a struggle to hook a further distance from the last loop plus hook low.  I continue to reverse hook and try again without a lot of success.

I'm using the last of the Belgian linen so would like to draw something else on this piece to take advantage of as much space as possible.  Waste Not Want Not.  Hmm, sounds like a possible mat to me!!!!!

So before I trim off the section hooked will decide what to do next, draw it on the linen and hook all the space before any of them are bound.  Hey, sounds like a great excuse to put off binding don't ya think???

Today I was like the bulky sheep who was lost in the mountains and finally returned home and sheared.  Was never so happy to see my hairdresser as I was today ~ had a hair cut and my roots repaired.  Now if only for a tummy tuck and botox.  Not really, but would appreciate my 60 year old body a little more now that I'm even older.  Didn't realize that was as good as I was going to get 😁.

Think summer finally arrived today and think the A/C will officially be on from now till fall.  Happy Hump Day.
