EENIE MEENIE MINEY MOE

Seems I keep a revolving and evolving 'to hook' list.  Some have gotten hooked and removed from the list and new ones added.  This first one has been on and off that list for many years.  But am now considering it again.
The original antique of this next one has a border.  But if I hook it will remove the busy border and hook just this part.
Here's the whole rug, so you can see what I mean about removing the border.  There is plenty to look at without it.
This red horse rug was recently found so went on the list.  Janice liked it too.
More red horses to consider and love that background.  There are many old horse rugs using red.  Perhaps because the use of worn out long johns were available plus the natural dyeing using poke berries.
I love this antique Blue Nose pattern.  Look at the wild eye.  Like a mustang stallion warning the other stallions to stay away from his harem.
Even tho there isn't a horse in the rug below I'm still enamored with this design.
If I choose the rug below I'd move the end borders closer to the inside and perhaps even make the horse larger.  Or maybe it would be too much  trouble so would choose another horse design, lol.
The last couple days have been hot as hades. This is a pic of the thermostat on Thursday.  When I snapped the photo it was 108 but don't know  if it went higher after that.
I forgot to take a photo of the thermostat yesterday although it was another hot day.  But did get a photo of the even higher temps today July 4th.  You  can see that it reached a high of 113 and it was humid as being in a steam room.  And yeah, I turned down the AC one degree to help save on electricity.
Happy Birthday America!

DOWN TO THE WIRE

I've still haven't decided on my next rug pattern yet, but Dahlia is all hooked.  Last evening I started binding it since there's no new pattern on my frame and needed/wanted something to work on.  Talk about hooking down to the wire.  Hate when that happens.
Today my task will be to decide on and enlarge a pattern for my frame. I sorta think I've made up my mind and here are a few which are being auditioned.  The blue birds I posted previously.
This antique floral below was on my 'to hook list' several years ago.  Guess I didn't draw it because the top part of the rug was not visible.  And will be a pain, not impossible tho, to just duplicate what's on the bottom on top of  the design.
Big dog little house is very interesting with the tiny critters above and side of the house and hooking the background would certainly not be boring.
Of course this year, the 250th anniversary of America, the design below would be apropos.  But haven't decided if I'd follow this same color plan or change it up a bit.  Red, white and blue are our colors.
And last, a blast from the past I'd almost forgotten about, horse drawn sleigh.
So I've dusted it off and put it in the file as a potential project.
Guess I'd better get off'n this contraption and made a decision as I can't go another evening without a rug on my frame.  Which means I've still a mess to clean up around the hooking spot before that can happen.

MY PICKS

As previously mentioned the last several rugs I've hooked have been someone else's design and I'm itching to hook another antique adaptation. The last blog post had some antique rugs in it but needed to do more searching thru my photo files to see what else might interest me.  Here are a few of my picks so far.

Deer grazing with blue house hooked late 19 early 20th century and measures 32 x 52.5.  Of course I wouldn't draw mine out that big.  I'm a push over for deer and horses.
This early 18th century floral hooked rug has made my heart skip a beat for a few years now.  This one will be challenging to make into a pattern because of the angle hanging from a chair.
Fruit Tree and 13 Birds late 19 century measures 36 x 55 and liked it when posted on my previous blog post.
Stalking Cat
was hooked early 20th century.   Its stance reminds me of two black cat figurines which were on the fireplace mantle growing up.  This rug measures 20 x 40.
White Horse and scrolls hooked in neutral tones measures 30 x 48.5.  This too has made my heart skip a beat and believe I already have it on paper from drawing it for someone else.  That is unless it is bigger than I wish to hook and would need to reduce the size.
OH!!!  Almost forgot.... the reclining sheep always seems to be in the pick mix and a beautiful rug choice.  So I've made the decision to save this for the next class with Kris Miller.  Kris was Tanya Wishard's teacher when she hooked it and I love how hers turned out.  As of this moment I don't have a class scheduled with Kris but hope to in the future.
So far I've 5 to think about as I work on the border of Over the Moon and finish binding Woolly Santa.  Yeah, I know, it's taking me forever to bind that small santa but remember ~ I hate binding.

What Shall I HOOK Next?

At this very minute the Lancaster Barnyard is close to being done so need something on my frame soon.  Therefore it is time for me to peruse my updated list on my "to do" rugs.

This one was in my last wanna do rugs.  Love the blotchy background, neutral hit and miss borderh and primitive flowers.  It could be a small table mat, great pattern to offer and easy to hook.
Love this antique basket of flowers
Another flower design I'm interested in is this one below.  But ya notice a trend here?  I'm salivating over old gold or dirty gold colors.
The antique rug below is nice but doesn't float my boat like the ones above.  Still looking.
The Eagle, Lions and Stars rug is a great departure from the floral rugs.  It also has a regal and patriotic appeal.
Ahhhh, forgot about this antique rug of Horse and Buggy.  Just look at this beauty.
There is also a geometric with horses in the corner.  Obviously I'm in a gold mood.
Another horse of course ~ lovely subject, blotchy border, primitive scrolls.  What's not to like?
Love birds with hearts would be a great wedding rug; it is nice but not for me to hook. For you out there looking for a wedding rug this would be great.  Of course I'd make the yellow  more into a rich gold instead of a mellow yellow.
SO what to do??  I know there is the upcoming rug camp rug which will need to be drawn and some wool dying.  But haven't decided on which rug to draw for camp yet either.

Since Lancaster Barnyard is so close to being finished (with hooking that is, not binding) need to have something to put on the frame immediately.  Surely don't want to go thru withdrawal 😁.
