DEER and BLUE HOUSE

Pulled the last loops yesterday and steamed it.  Will start the binding while in the waiting room for my annual physical  next Monday and dermatologist on Thursday.  Makes the boredom of waiting easier while accomplishing a task usually not fun.
Have make line drawings of two designs but still haven't decided what to hook next.  I might even enlarge the designs to see if that helps me decide what to hook, otherwise will just endure the wrath of the bastardized Comstock pattern.

I've found numerous antique rugs to share in a future post.  Fall officially arrives during this evening and cooler weather predicted.

My thoughts are with on-line friends in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland as you will be getting some very turbulent weather in the next couple days as the hurricane heads in your direction.  Be sure to have batteries for light and radio and perhaps prepare food ahead so if you lose power you will at least have cooked food albeit not hot.  Have salad makings too at least that is eatable cold.

Happy hooking.

DEER and BLUE HOUSE Update

Okay Janice, since you said you never get tired seeing the same ol rugs over and over,  here go with another post of Deer and Blue House.  Guess I'll soon need to decide what goes on my frame next ~ besides the dreaded Mary quite Contrary.
This morning it started drizzling outside and stopped long enough for me to remove two big pokeberry weeds from a section of the yard and unwanted seedling trees growing in the same area.  Came in the house and it has been pouring since.  Just might end up with that annual lake in the back woods and yard after all.

Today was arrival day at Cape May rug camp for week one.  I'm not attending this year (either week) and I've been attending since 2003.  Am hoping the new organizers get more organized for next year's event and maybe I'll attend again.  There were no primitive teachers lined up, only narrow cut teachers.  So each of the two weeks there was one class where you could work on a UFO and without a teacher.  WTH?  I can stay home and do that with no cost for hotel and my food is good, so why go?

But will await reports back from attendees on the food which was horrible at best last year and sometimes unpalatable.  I'm no food critic so you know it had to be bad when you can't even eat a salad because you pull out half rotted greens and bloated cherry tomatoes.  Sure miss Linda and Norma for the fantastic job they did.

Deer and Blue House Update

I'm definitely not maintaining my every-other-day blog posts I'd hope to keep up.  But at least I'm still blogging...for now anyway.  Many have given up the ghost years ago and was saddened when they left.  Here's the update on Deer and Blue house, an antique adaptation.
The original  was drawn 30 x 52.5 but didn't want mine that big so drew it 21 x 30.  However I will draw it whatever size you wish.  In case you're wondering, those dots/dashes are to indicate the change in background color and/or outline.  You've probably noticed my comments on previous rug shows how I love those blotchy backgrounds of antique rugs.

Guess it is also time for me to remove Mary from the confines of her imprisonment and begrudgingly pull some loops so it can (hopefully) be finished by the end of the year.  The only thing worse than having a rug to bind is having one to hook you're not happy with.  Yet I refuse to toss it in the trash.
