DAY 5 of CHRISTMAS THEMED RUGS I'VE HOOKED (edited)

This is a design by Ali Strebel which included both hooking and applique.  Sadly I gave my first ever hooked mitten to someone ~ we were suppose to exchange first hooked pieces.  Well she got mine but I didn't get hers, lol.  But I hooked more of them , gave as gifts or sold.
The edit:  At 4 a.m.  when I woke to go to the bathroom remembered that I have hooked another as did Nancy Kilrain.  Here is mine, which I still own but had a lapse of memory, lol.  I liked hers better and borrowed stole her idea for a braided hanger.

Julia asked if I hooked the back....no I didn't  hook a back for the pocket, I used a piece of the same off white wool used for hooking the pocket.
And here is Nancy's; I love the direction she hooked the cuff which gives it the impression of a knitted mitten.  And, by the way, Nancy has ressurected/redirected the content of her blog to be more her hooking since her husband seem to be making bird houses.  Drop by for a visit with NANCY.
Here is the booklet from which I got the design; you can see a picture of it on the cover.  Not sure if the booklet is out of print or not since I didn't see it listed on her web site.    Perhaps you might get luck with one listed on eBay.
The temperature has been colder than normal for us here in Delaware but at least (so far) no snow.  Isn't the same for  you in the midwestern states or Canada tho.  You're all welcome to keep all of it.

I've been watching the George and Tammy TV series about the life of George Jones and Tammy Wynette.  I had no idea of the turbulent life they led probably because there was no social media back then and I didn't go to their shows or keep up with the music gossip.  Show is interesting and good music to entertain me while hooking.  Also would like to add that I'm happy I'm not famous with an image to keep.

Happy hooking.

OH MY STARS and HEART

This morning as I was waking up stars were on my mind.  Before the new year the subject of new years resolutions was written about on some blogs.  And in the past I'd make a resolution but end up breaking it.  Yet I did say to myself....'hope I'll finally work on the star quilt again sometime this year'.  The last time I worked on and blogged about it was 2017.  Good grief!  that was four years ago.  If you'd like to read those posts you can see them HERE.

I even  surprised myself today by assembling a few more blocks.  Honestly don't know how many blocks are needed to finish the never-ending at least decade long quilt project because I didn't assess that today.  But did sew 5 more blocks.
Perhaps after I've had a couple days to catch up on pulling loops on my dear horse rug I'll check thru the box with the quilt and determine what is needed.  Surely that fabric is aging as fast or faster a rate than I am 😕 so need to finish it.

Have assembled my mitten with heart and not ready to hang it since it's not February yet.  I'll get some greenery and have a couple fabric hearts to put in the mix or perhaps I'll have to hook a couple small ones to insert.
After blogging the start of my hooked mitten project and Kindred Spirits booklet friend and follower Nancy Kilrain remembered she had that booklet and had plans to make two for her twin grandchildren.  She posted her first mitten on FB with a delightful braided hanger... UH, an idea I stole from her ~ thanks Nancy.  By the way Nancy, in all honesty I like your hooked version better than mine.  Yours has more character and mine is rather stagnant.  Hey!  Give credit where credit is due.  Good job gal!
Happy Monday, plans are to pull a LOT of loops tomorrow which will make me happier.

Throw Back Thursday and Rug Hooking Too

The other day I saw something which reminded me of a photo from my past.  The image was vivid in my mind so proceeded to search for it thru several photo albums.  Actually went thru them several times ~ was determined to locate that photo.  That's another reason for the 'slow poke' comment on my previous post.  Thank goodness finally found it.

This is a photo of me in 1982 having recently moved back to Delaware from California after my first husband died a year before.  This was my first job upon returning home, with a sheet fed printing company named Peninsula Press.
Someone at work just had a baby and was handing out cigars.  Well, me being a ham decided to stick it in my mouth put on my bosses hat with a self-printed 'PRESS' pass on the side and pretend to write out the new development 'news' of the birth.

Oh what a difference 30+ years makes in the aging process and socially.  Back then I was running road races (and winning in my age group), doing strength training (lifting weights), had no cares in the world and looking to the future.  Fast forward to today ~ I ran  my last 10k when I was 50 and stopped running about 5 years later.  I stopped weight training about the same time.  Today, with this political climate I'm not nearly as hopeful for the future.  Okay, moving right along.........

On yesterday's blog post someone commented that Over the Moon would be a great rug for a 'little one'.  There aren't any little ones in my family and none planned for the near future.  Since I've so many rugs and no chance of stopping hooking by choice, just might list it on ebay once it is finished.

A few months ago I'd planned to draw some mitten patterns, hook one as a gift and one for me.  Now it is 2 weeks away from Christmas and I didn't do it.  I'd hooked several in the past but sold them at shows so don't have any in my Christmas container.  Since I'm anxious to start the antique adaptation guess it won't get done this year.

Here is the cute mitten with real holly, fake berries and sweet annie tucked inside.  They each had a wire hanger attached on the sides.
The pattern is a design in a Kindred Christmas booklet by Kindred Spirits,  pictured below.
Happy Thursday to you all.
