SEPTEMBER 1st ALREADY?

Good grief, time goes by too quickly.  Plans were to post an update on Deer and Blue House...BUT...I didn't accomplish as much on it as planned since I worked outside this morning and halfway filled up the dumpster with more pond liner.  Didn't bother taking a photo of the progress but figure it will be two more weeks before the carcass will be gone.

After lunch I hooked and planned to post a photo this evening.  However, getting up from my hooking spot across the room I saw the view of a fantastic dry sink and vignette and decided that would be my post.

The wonderful black doll to the far left and the chair were made by my friend and former dollmaker Shari, the primitive black doll to the right of her was made by another friend Frannie. 

Below is a pic of the right side which shows a toy iron, tin cup and utensils which were found in the dirt outside my childhood home by my father well after I was an adult.   

Those two small dolls you see were made by me.  That style sold very well when vending but am so happy to have saved these for me to enjoy and remind me of the past.  That used to be my happy past until it became work.

Now my happy place is hooking on HAPPY rugs, lol.  Well you know which rugs I'm talking about.

I'm Late

 Sorry I'm late with a promised post every day to celebrate Halloween but yesterday was quite a busy computer-busy day, a couple of my pals would agree and forgive me I think.

Today I'm switching from rugs and mats to dolls.  This one may have been one-of-a-kind (can't remember).  So is she a Pumpkin Witch or a Pumpkin Fairie ~  How would you identify her?

Making dolls was fun for a while and made a variety of them.  My favorite style was primitive and here are a few examples.  The first photo are huge dolls and I always named them.  This is Socrates and Jubilee Jones.

While some like big dolls others prefer smaller ones so I made this one which was snapped up quickly.  I named her Polly Anna and the date on the photo was 2001, wow, 19 years ago.

Then I did some minis which were quite popular like these babes in a row.  This photo was from 2002.

Also did a few vintage reproductions like the Columbian style dolls, both of those sold.

I made two of the Columbian Dolls below and dressed them in vintage child clothing, one was purchased by my Aunt and I kept one which sits in my living room in an antique rocker but not this one.

There are a few left which didn't sell when I decided to stop doing shows and perhaps one day I'll take the time to photo them and list them on ebay.

Happy Friday; it's a wet one here so am hoping to pull a few loops and chill.  And will be happy to do so since I didn't sleep well last night.  The prednisone and caladryl just isn't working fast enough for me.

WOOL to the RESCUE

Actually it was my friend Barb Carroll who came to my rescue once again.  Was a little short on textured wool for the rug so was mixing texture with 2 other flat similar shades.  I'd originally purchased the textured wool from Barb a couple years ago and was sure she had none left. 

Then I figured...'what can I lose by an email to Barb sending a photo and asking if she has more'.  VOILA... Barb wrote back saying she did and she shipped it with an invoice and sweet Christmas note. Wow, lucky me and wonderful Barb.

Yeah, I know, not much of a change in the look of the project due to the season and life in general.  But this is what my piece looks like now. The border is great for using leftover wool worms but for me it is a struggle choosing what goes next to what.  For some hookers this might be an effortless task but not for me. 

Very soon I'll show you the antique rug from which this is adapted. However, tomorrow's just might be showing dolls, bears, etc. that I'd made in the past.  

Newly found photos have been fun seeing my work thru the years. Some are still favorites and wish I had to display and enjoy for a month and then release again.  I love primitive, which shows in my rugs.  The same goes for my dolls made in the past.  And was (am) particularly fond of my black dolls and had a huge following.  So there will be pictures of historic replications of the past in some future posts.
