A few posts ago I told you of my losing a few rug labels I'd printed out. I know they were printed and cut out but have no idea what happened to them. And, nope, they never surfaced. So with enough labels to fill a page I printed out more.
The three labels on the left are for rugs already hooked or in the progress. Oh Glorious Day design will be hooked at Cape May, the bottom design Friendship Bells will be hooked November. Because I needed another planned piece for a label I chose the small Tonya Robey pattern I've had for eons. I figure that could easily be finished in 2019 too.
When hooking an antique adaptation I like to put the original picture on the label as with the hearts and Great Granddaughter's rug. Otherwise usually print a picture of the design by the maker of the pattern to show another version other than what I've hooked.
A tutorial of making rug labels can be seen on my blog by clicking HERE. If you wanted to know my thoughts on cutters, rug frames, etc. all you need to do is type those key words in the space at the top left side of my blog.
On my grocery list today is Glad Press and Seal. For what you ask? I've heard that if you press that on the bottom of the rug you're working on, when pulling the rug off the frame it helps prevent loops from being pulled out. Also, I'm such a slob at meal time there's always salad dressing which doesn't make it to my mouth but makes it to my top. Now I'll be prepared by pressing some of that on the front of my linen top.
Happy Saturday everyone.

I love replicating antique adaptation rugs but also design my own. Looking at old rugs in Early American Life magazine was my inspiration to learn to hook.

Almost...but not quite...
I'm referring to the Great Granddaughter's Rug. Since I'm so close to the finish line considered waiting to post this but was anxious to show you the rug. Plus I've the Patriotic Pumpkins freebie design by Kelley that I'd like to work on.
The dimensions of Magdalena's rug measured 32 ½ x 43 ½. I drew mine out smaller and it measures 25 x 33 ½.
Have tried to stay true to Magdalena's color plan but using whatever colors of wool is here. Also tried using as much pre-cut strips from my worm bags as possible. A few times I've taken an #8.5 or #9 and cut in half just to use what is available. But sadly it doesn't appear many of those bags are reducing in size.
And....am making one hell of a mess as I progress.
See, told you it was a mess. At one time all those wool strips on the side arm, on the back of the sofa and on the seat of the sofa were in their own bag. No longer; and they will all need to be separated (again) and put back in the proper bag. Guess I'll never learn to be neat.
In case you're wondering, the mat on the foot stool with the two birds (Two Old Crows) was designed and hooked by Tonya Robey in 2006. I was lucky enough to purchase that and a few more of her wonderful pieces.
Got the grass cut today and it was time because it hadn't been cut since prior to my leg surgery ~ which isn't healing fast enough for me. Doctor prescribed a surgical soap and antibiotic ointment prescription. I try to keep my leg elevated as much as possible.
Before cutting the grass I made sure to wear a bandage over the wound and wear long pants. Also don't want any more sun spots so wore long sleeves for the couple hours I was outside. Hey...it was hotter than hades under all those clothes ~ how did the folks manage when they were all bustled up and covered up to the neck back in the day???
Karen Kosmider, did you receive my response to your question this morning? Both tries to reply were bounced back to me. Email me at saundra125@comcast.net to let me know.
Have a great Sunday evening.

Back to the Big One
Must admit I'm liking hooking a small rug as a break and just might keep two rugs going simultaneously in the future. That would be one SMALL and another whatever size. It gives me a break between rugs and prevents boredom for those who might read my blog on occasion.
Here's the Great Granddaughter's Rug right now. Am embarrassed to say I binge watched Killing Eve with Sandra Oh. It is such a weird show and required my full attention to catch what was going on. When doing that I can't pull loops.
This evening my attention will be directed to the great Kelley Freebie so am hopeful there will be more accomplished on that for next post.
It has been too hot for me to do walking, besides with the big scoop out of my shin I wasn't supposed to overdo since the legs carry the weight of my body. Will hate to step on the scales after a week.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend and there's a big holiday coming up.

Update on GGD Rug
Always an excuse from me, right? The last week or so I've had appointments and today didn't get home until after 3 p.m. Am disappointed there's not more hooked to show.
The next project is already planned but not drawn on linen. Ya'll know the reason is my 'hard U-turn' to do something else.
Happy hooking everyone.

Don't misunderstand....I'm still very happy working on this rug, it doesn't seem as tho I've progressed much since my last update.

Great Granddaughter's Rug
Have been anxious to get the lollipop bouquet hooked so I could show you the update.
In case you don't recall, this one was drawn to the size of 26 x 35. When back on the frame think I'll finish that section below the lollipop bouquet then move to the top. Will hook the other upside duck first then move downward to the other lollipop bouquet.
Again, here is a photo of Great granddaughter Ellen Jacobs and her son Gregg the day she was donating the rug to the Historical Society of Perry County, Pennsylvania.
If you tap on the photo to enlarge, and if you look hard at the left of the first lollipop you will see what I believe is an image of a paw print. So naturally I drew it on mine.
Today it was cool and thought it would be a great day to work outside as I did yesterday. But it ended up drizzling and getting cooler, so dang... I was sequestered to inside the house and forced to hook, har har har 😃😃 😃.
Happy hooking.
