Veterans Day

God Bless those brave military who sacrificed life and limb to protect our country and our Constitution.  Thanks also to those now serving.  Yesterday was the birthday of the Marine Corps and would like to honor them with this beautiful hooked rug by Donna Hrkman.  First time I saw this piece my eyes filled with tears, beautiful work Donna.
This was the note displayed with the rug.
Below is my wonderful step-father (Edward C. "Pat" Patterson) who served in the Navy and was on the Presidential staff assigned to Camp David during the years when Eisenhower was President, then John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson.
My father (Joseph H. Green Jr.) who served in the Army during WWII.
Here's wishing a Happy Remembrance Day to our Canadian neighbors.

  4. The hooked rug is unbelievably beautiful.
I was looking through family history papers yesterday and came away with deep gratitude for all the family members who volunteered for service dating back to the Revolutionary War and including: the War of 1812, the Civil War (Union), WW1 as well as both my parents service during WW2.
My never-ending prayer is for peace.

    1. Very interesting Mimi, wish I could have replied to you personally but you are a NO-REPLY blogger so couldn't. Thanks to your family for their service to protect our nation and Constitution.

  7. What an awesome rug. My dad was a Marine. He saved a dog from being a Korean's dinner and kept him with him until he came home. At that time there were not groups who would reunite dogs and soldiers. Yes we must remember all who served like your step dad and own father. Janice
