Can It Be???

Hard to believe it is August 1st already.  Doesn't seem that long ago that taxes were prepared ~ before you know it will be Thanksgiving. And you know what happens after that.  Thankfully my grandsons rug is all hooked and now to just bind it.

Not ready to show you any major changes in Ned just yet as I want to hook all the boring borders first, hook in those gold triangle lines and look again.  What Jacqueline commented had lots of merit as Ned's halter is really too bright.  Not sure what I'll do instead but think the borders need to be done first.

Okay... since there's no progress to show on Ned hows'bout a rug show.
Above is a soft colored half slice depicting two doves, flower and circle scallop border.
Two ducks.
Oh but I adore the row of houses or village with the shirred rainbow and border.  This is a rug by Barbara Merry.
I also like the early hooked rug of the colorful bird above.  Obviously the rug is close to the same color and value of the rug on which it was placed for the photo.  Don't have a date on any of the rugs I've posted so far.....sorry.
This one is for you Kelley, Pink cat and bowl of flowers.  This one has a date of 1946 hooked into the to right corner.
Ooooh, I'm in love with the one above.  It has all the muted colors, blotchy faded sections, the make do of textiles regardless of color and value.  Right up my alley.  This is late 19th century according to Skinner.
The dog with red was sold from a private collection in Virginia and was to have been late 19th century early 20th century.

Okay chickadees, I need to hook more boring border on Ned to figure out what changes to make.  But couldn't let the first day of the new month pass by without a post.

Have a great evening everyone.

Saundra
