Here are some rugs hooked by Kris Miller of Spruce Ridge Studios.
The above design is called Farmhouse Geometric
The cute sheep design is called "The Eyes Have It" and was an example to demonstrate doing all three types of eyes.
Above is a sunflower with a tombstone shaped top and below is a design by Lori Brechlin which Kris is still working on. Kris did take other rugs to show us and I forgot to get pictures of all of them.Loretta Scena also had an array of designs to show her students and before the class started again after lunch took a few photos.
Don't you just love the look of a hand torn piece? And the contrast of the colors are wonderful. These are not colors I'd use but just can't keep my eyes off that flower and background.
The above is another flower hooked by Loretta.
The Mighty Oak framed piece was embellished and here is a closeup of the text for your enjoyment.
Another hooked and embellished piece by Loretta is the Welcome pineapple. To get a better look of all of the work, just tap the photo and it will enlarge for you.
Loretta also made this wool hooked and embellished doll. Me thinks my pal Deb will enjoy this.Sibyl Osicka was a teacher on another floor and in her own suite. Since she was kind enough to put her pieces in the rug show I was able to get photos of them for you. Enjoy.
The above design is called A Glass of Wine.
Above rug is named Chinese Phoenix. By the way, Sibyl makes those fringes using the foundation the piece is hooked on. Amazingly detailed work but she swears it is easy, just time consuming and needs concentration. Two Oriental rugs.
Unfortunately the above piece was so long that I needed to step back in order to capture the entire thing. Although there was no tag on the scrolls and deer crest rug it certainly has the look of a Sibyl rug.
The other teacher was Lissanne Miller but didn't see or take any photos of her rugs. She also had her own suite and didn't bring her rugs to the show.
There are lots more photos for me to share ~ one will be of the finished rugs in the show by students and then another set of pictures on another blog post of the 'throw down' of the projects we worked on last week.
Happy Sunday to you all and happy hooking.

I always enjoy seeing Kris 's rugs as they are more my style. And Sybylle's fine hooking is precision. While embellishment doesn't really call my name, I must say that Loretta's rugs are stunning. I especially like the tree. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYou bet I like that wool angel! Cool use of the techniques we learned with Alli!
