Some Old Rugs to Share

The old rugs aren't hooked by me but rather unnamed individuals who had the same love for rug hooking as us.  Just looked at the date I first saved this photo and it was January this year.  Can't believe it took me this long to share this beauty.

The Red Center Star rug was hooked late 19th early 20th  century and measures 32 x 43.
May have shown this rug before but will share it again as I love it.  Love the hit and miss wobbly border and the rest of the colors.  No date was given for the Basket of flowers, it measures 27 x 55.
Two rugs hooked 1810 1910 and described as Fraktur rugs depicting parable of prodigal son.
I have no desire to hook a huge rug and if I ever do it would require plenty of design to keep me entertained.  This area rug measures 4' x 6' and there is a lot of boring sky to hook.  Am sure it was a labor of love for the person who hooked it as it was probably their farm.
A folk art bouquet rug as described by the auction house.
You can see the fibers used for hooking are knit and cotton.
Probably in order to stabilize and extend the longevity of the rug it was tacked down to a heavier blue piece of fabric for a backing.
An interesting design of this Blackbird hooked rug with the indentations.  It was hooked late 19th or early 20th century with wool and cotton,  measures 23 x 41.5.
This is someone's prized Hunting Dog hooked early 20th century and measures 19.5 x 30.  From the estate of Susan Parrish.
Rabbits flanking carrot and star with checkered border 42" sq. late 19 early 20th century, a collection of the Vogel family.
Another animal rug is the Yellow Tabby half round rug.
I've gotten frustrated with Microsoft Edge.  For some reason I am unable to open and post photos because it was saved in Microsoft Edge vs. Chrome.  I didn't choose Edge, but because it is part of the software on the computer the BIG BLUE e is what shows up in my flash drive instead of a photo.  And I can't open it in Chrome.  I hate technology sometimes.  You probably have  no idea what I'm talking about but if you do, is there a way to circumvent that?  I can't remove it from the apps either.

  1. Happy Friday Saundra.... Another great collection of rugs....No doubt about my favorite in this group: the blackbird... I love everything about it! That yellow tabby is pretty stinking cute too though. Nope...not a clue what you're talking about. Sorry! Heck...I swore at Alexa a few days ago and now she's not talking to me. Yikes! ~Robin~

Did you mean 1910 for the fraktur rugs?

  6. I choose the final rug as my favorite on this round. I used to be pretty good at technology when I worked, now, not so much.
